Sprint offers new Push-to-Pay services
It’s only fitting that Sprint have some news to share, in light of yesterday’s move of unlimited voice plans by three of their competitors. No, they aren’t announcing an unlimited anything; instead, they’re adding on to their PTT or Push-To-Talk capabilities gained from their Nextel Direct Connect services. For $7.50 a month you can Push-to-Email, which actually records a voice message that is sent to a contact’s Inbox. I’m thinking Push-to-Voicemail was a better naming choice here, but that’s just me. Push-to-Picture shoots a pic directly to a contact for $0.25 a pop. BetaNews indicates more push-to-pay services from Sprint later this year. Possible options include “push-to-text, push-to-locate, push-to-information, and more.” Is any of this pushing your gotta-have-it buttons? Me, not so much.

Who would want to pay for this service when Jott does even more for free? No wonder Sprint is taking on water like the Titanic…
Poor Sprint, they don’t get credit for starting this “Unlimited” plan craze with their announcement 2 weeks ago. And when they do announce something new (though agreed, of dubious merit) they’re largely ignored. Heck, for the longest time they were the only service provider with anything resembling a sane 3G plan.
Over the past few years I’ve used all 4 major carriers, and Sprint has been by far my best experience… I wonder if I just live and work in the one tiny pocket of good service considering how universally my poor provider is disliked.
I wonder if they’ll survive long enough to even get Xohm to market at this rate.
