SPB upgrades Pocket Plus to 4.0; includes kinetic scrolling, fast search and more
One of my all time, personal favorite Today screen plugins for Windows Mobile just get better: SPB Software House updated Pocket Plus to version 4.0. Aside from a smaller device footprint and increased performance (two bonuses on a mobile device, IMO), the new version has a few features that make it worth looking at. Tabbed browsing doesn’t exist natively in Pocket Internet Explorer but you’ll get them with Pocket Plus. Along with the tabs is a fast search feature in IE as well as the ability to scroll web pages with the touch of a finger, similar to Vista’s gesture functionality or the iPhone’s kinetic scrolling. In fact, the "smart scrolling" isn’t just limited to the web, but to lists of contacts, e-mails and more. Sweet!
The Pocket Plus File Explorer offers ZIP support, file encryption, storage card formatting, and file property information as well. Aside from the features I highlighted (there’s more, of course), I simply like the way Pocket Plus works as a tabbed program launcher on the Today screen. That’s what drew me to it several versions ago, but all of the extras make it well worth the $29.95. Upgraders benefit from a reduced price of $14.95 and there’s a 30-day money back guarantee from SPB if you don’t like the app.

I’d like to see them upgrade Mobile Shell as well, and actually merge these two programs. I’d also like to see it as a true GUI front-door replacement sort of like HTC’s Touch thingy. (As long as we’re making requests, I’d also like to see WM6 upgrades made available for my Blackjack and Treo 750).
