So Where is the Nexus One, Verizon?
As a long time Verizon customer I was ecstatic to hear that the Nexus One would appear for the Verizon network this week. I have played with the Nexus One and it is one sweet smartphone. The BlackBerry Storm is getting long in the tooth and the Nexus One would be an awfully good replacement for it.
I must have hit the Google site dozens of times this week and I still find the lousy message that it is “coming soon.” Google and Verizon are still sending those who click the link to the Droid web page. Come one, where is the Nexus One, Verizon?

Verizon sucks a**!!!
If they don’t announce a release date by the end of this month, I am switching to T-Mobile.
Good riddance loser… cry cry cry…we don’t need anymore 12 yr old on the network so don’t let the door hit you in the ass.
Sorry you bought that ugly Droid feel for you …
yup, feeling your pain. I even tweeted it to @Vzwoffers no reply… someone stole my xmass!!! As these are the times of year I am excited for…
Keep up the good work and let us know if ya hear anything by posting it!!
I’ve been hitting the Nexus One site for the same reason and getting the same result. I thought this week would be it–especially with the Skype announcement.
Now, I’m thinking…wait till summer??? Check Clearwire coverage in my area? The new phone from Sprint looked sweet. Last time I checked, Sprint’s network was growing, and I’ve waited this long for Verizon and the Nexus One, why not a few more months and a better phone?
I with all of you…nothing can hold a candle to Verizon’s network and the Nexus seems like the first legit state of the art phone to hit with them. I called Verizon this week and they said……drum roll……Next month….booooooo hissssss. Yeah I was bummed to hear that too. I think it’s cuz they had the trademark issue pop up earlier this month. What better time to announce this and hit the market hard then during CTIA…oh well…good luck guys.
Gmoney
“Nexus seems like the first legit state of the art phone” I guess you missed the Moto droid release… It will still be the best phone on the network even after the nexus one…
Why are you asking Verizon that question? Google is selling the phone!
Exactly!! Why are you blaming Verizon?!! The phone will come out when it’s ready.
I am very eager to get my hands on a Nexus One. Hope springs eternal in the human breast, but my hope is beginning to wane.
Verizon is just bending everyone over the barrel and laughing because all of us idiots are still on their shitty network and paying out the ass for oversold plans/data pkgs.
They will see that by this time next month, they will have lost at least 10% of their customer base just because of the non Nexus/Incredible release. They are just hurting themselves and all the other carriers are smiling wide with open arms.
Just look over the last 5 years of phones. AT&T gets Razor first, then iPhone. Verizon gets what? BB’s?? Whoopie.. every other carrier has them too. Droid sucks donkey balls and Eris is a Nexus wanna-be. Already outdated and will NEVER get the 2.1 update.
F YOU suckas!!!
You’re trying to be funny with a hint of ghetto, but you’re doing a much better job of being putz. Are you really still riding the at&t crappy network and dropped calls regularly train???? Yeah they get the technology first, but seriously if you can even put verizon in the same sentence with at&t about plans, service or call quality you’re whacko…you’d think in this day and age that at&t would get their act together and learn…FIX YOUR NEXTWORK, SPEND THE EXTRA TIME AND LOOT SO YOUR CUSTOMERs DON’T HAVE TO SPEW THINGS LIKE NELLIGAN to cope with being an at&t subscriber. But hey, then there’d be two verizons and no luke wilson comercials…ha
Gmoney
Nelligan…. To start out, AT&T was the first to get the Razor and in the long run that phone turned out to have more problems than most other phones out there. You may disagree, but you probably did not have access to the internal tech reports and materials that actually show all the issues and bugs the phone had. When it comes to the iPhone, Verizon actually was offered to be the carrier of choice and they turned it down. (they knew the issues the phone would go through and also did not like the exclusive warranty/troubleshooting requirements Apple wanted). Besides, how many incarnations has the iPhone had to go through to finally get some basic features that other phones have had for years (ie, picture & video messaging, and others) ? So far 3.. The actual ONLY reason that AT&T currently has the largest customer base is purely due to the number of people that got sneakily convinced to buy the iPhone on a shaky network. You also may not know the actual number of people that leave AT&T to go to Verizon.
Calm your monkey ass down and stick with AT&T, it’s so not that serious…
I have figured out 2 things about technology. 1. Macs are better than PC’s, and Verizon has the best network in the US. Yes it is expensive, yes their stores are filled with village idiots, yes, their tech service is slow, and yes they are late as s*** with their phones, BUT, I hardly ever drop a call and that is why I have a f***ing phone, to make phone calls. The other stuff is cool and useful, but it is all crap if you can’t connect. So, I will bitch and whine about Verizon being lame and late with the Nexus Incredible and Nexus One, but in a month, I will have it and it will seem like this annoying delay never happened. Meanwhile, Mulligan will be dropping calls long after the Nexus One comes and goes. I will not leave Verizon, until someone has a network that compares. I may be waiting a long time.
“1. Macs are better than PCs”
This discredited everything you have ever said in your life about technology. “Better” is a relative term, and can not be used to distinguish between Macs and PCs. You can like Macs better, but that is different than Macs being better than PCs.
ACTUALLYKNOWSSOMETHING:
““1. Macs are better than PCs”
This discredited everything you have ever said in your life about technology.”
…Truth bomb.
JOJOZ11 is obviously a mainstream consumer, lacking a true tech understanding of computer hardware
I agree with KDUBB, if you knew anything about tech you would understand that when you say “mac is better than PC” you are really saying, “i like the fancy looking operating system”. if you are going to bash pc’s then understand that a “pc” is a PERSONAL COMPUTER, nothing more. therefore you like the mac OS better than Windows. which also means, like KDUBB said that you are another idiot consumer that will pay double what he should for a computer half as powerful as the comperable pc.
On the note of the Nexus one, it is going to be an epic release for verizon. so far the only thing that comes close to a decent smart phone are the blackberrys. the droid is nice, but the nexus has the snap dragon processorand the new nvidia chip. this phone should have been the killer of the all high and mighty iphone but i am afraid that when verizon recieves the iphone in 2011 that it will ultimately crush the Nexus.
that is just my person opinion on the matter and i welcome any critisism.
I couldn’t have said it better! Most of us have tried the other networks at one time or another and we (at least we who want our phones to work) come back to BigRed. Toys are cool, but phones that work are much better.
I was at Fry’s electronics Fri afternoon and asked the Verizon sales person when they were getting in the Nexus One and she said that her manager told the staff yesterday that they were not getting them in. I hope she or her manager was is wrong, or at least get something better in the next few months, like the HTC Evo.
She was correct. As of this date the official word is that only corporate stores will get the nexus one. Official resellers will not have access to them due to contracts tied to the nexus one. Another Iphone like blunder since the premium Verizon retailers far, far, far, far outnumber and out sell the corp stores.
The official story is that the Nexus One will be sold exclusively by Google, with contract pricing for Verizon. This is why there are reports of the HTC Incredible being stocked in Verizon’s central warehouse, but not Nexus One. As far as current marketing strategy, though, you’ll never see a Nexus One in a Verizon Corporate store OR retailer.
i wanna switch to tmobile as well. does anyone know how to get out of a verizon contract for free?
easy. Get an address where Verizon doesn’t offer service.
@ Nelligan – if by “the Droid sucks..” you mean that it is more powerful than any other phone of its kind, then yeah, good point.
I’m anxious for the Nexus One…and I will be selling my Droid once I obtain it..
So, I was watching TV and saw a yet another add for Verizon’s Droid…their special where if you buy one, you get the second one for free? offer ends 3/31…do you think that Nexus one will launch then?
I was so excited about the Verizon Nexus One, and then a friend of mine showed me hers… and you can’t see anything on the screen when you are outdoors… SO now i wonder? is it worth it? and what’s all this talk about the HTC incredible???
HTC vs. Nexus One? The simple story is that they are SIMILAR
HTC Incredible vs. Nexus One? The simple story is that they are SIMILAR phones. The biggest difference is that the HTC will be purchased in bulk by Verizon and sold in their stores. Rumor has it that 150,000 units are already in the U.S. central warehouse. As far as Nexus One, it will be sold exclusively from Google.
“I was at Fry’s electronics Fri afternoon and asked the Verizon sales person when they were getting in the Nexus One and she said that her manager told the staff yesterday that they were not getting them in.”
Yes.. that is the rumor. “IF’ they are available on the Verizon network, they will still NOT be sold in stores. You will have to order it online.
Just what I read ….
@KD – you will have a brightness control that will more than likely be made available via a widget.
my Droid can’t be seen during the day without amping up the brightness.
I’m with you. I’ve been checking the website, ready to jump into the Smartphone world. This is supposed to be my Evernote-wielding, calendar-syncing, portable-browsing solution. Instead, I currently have a big fat pile of nothing.
I posted a similar article in frustration: http://techdojo.org/2010/03/still-no-nexus-one-for-verizon-wireless
Okay, I’ve also been awaiting this phone for about a year now. I’ve been anxiously waiting for its arrival, and with the rumors spreading saying it would be released March 23 I was hoping I would get it on that day. Unfortunately, it was a sham. My plan ends in May for verizon and if the nexus one is not available by then I am switching to AT&T and buying it. I read this article yesterday stating it would be out April 2011, I, probably along with many of you believed this could be a fact or its a god damn typo that some jerk had to do to mess with everyone’s mind. Thank god it was updated. Lets just hope for the best, I would really like to get the phone unlocked and purchase it through google rather than those Verizon bastards.
http://www.newsopi.com/tech/nexus-one-verizon-pricing-release-date/401/
when will the waiting stop?
1) first waited for the droid on verizon in the fall-
2) then heard rumors about the nexus one on t-mobile for january, so waited until january
3) then in january, found out the nexus one would be out in the spring on verizon: good phone, good network, win-win
so i’ve been waiting since last year, any news for us anytime soon?
It’s funny, if Verizon would have released Nexus One I would have bought it. Now I think I’m just going to wait for the HTC Incredible, don’t think I like the track ball sticking out on the Nexus One
I probably check the google phone page 4-5 times/day looking for the verizon deal..
Great site JK – we’re always linking to your site – keep it up!
http://www.nexusoneforums.org
Yea, if they don’t announce the phone, I am getting an iPhone. The market can only take so much hype before it cracks.
i have been waiting for the N1 ever since i heard it was coming to verizon… im done with the bs.. waiting for the iphone 4g and making the dreaded switch to at&t as soon as it comes out.. Verizon will never have the iphone, N1, or any other phone they can’t totally control….
i read this morning on some site, i forgot the url, but i’ll gind it again, anywyas the site says that the htc incredible is the verizon’s version of the google nexus one, just bout the same specs, but underclocked processor and 8mg pixel cam. i really don’t know if its true or not, we been getting the runaround ever since march 23′d. if google got a dollar for everytime a verizon customer hit the google nexus one site, they’b b billionaires. everyone keep us posted if ya hear anything.
Funny you would say that, because google’s net income last year was somewhat over 6 Billion. So, yeah, they’re already billionaires. So they do what they want, when they want, and they’re release the N1 when they’re good ‘n ready on their terms.
Hmmm… should I wait for the EVO on Sprint instead? I’ve really enjoyed Verizon’s service, though. So, maybe the Incredible instead? I don’t know.
Is there supposed to be a Verizon-subsidized Nexus One (with contract) as well as a pay-out-the-nose no-contract version, or just the latter?
I switched to T-Mobile from Verizon just so I can get the Nexus One. The phone is cool, but the spotty 3G coverage and lack of any coverage in general sent my right back to Verizon. I would rather have a Droid with excellent coverage than a N1 with not so good coverage.
If Verizon doesn’t get their act together I will switch to T-Mobile…
I never Travel….so I only care about coverage in SoCal :)
Verizon has no control over this issue at all so what is all this bs about Verizon being the bad guy here. Google is in full control of this phone release date so if you wish to kick your feet like a child then direct your immaturity to the right source of your frustrations.
That’s just retarded. Is google responsible? Yes, but Verizon, isn’t an innocent bystander. After all it is their network, and if they don’t want it on there, it won’t be on there. hence the whole iphone debacle. Its a pattern that Verizon users should simply expect. when was the last time Verizon got a phone that people really wanted and anticipated? and got it first? It’s never happened. As a matter of fact, with the exception of a maybe 3 handsets, Verizon has always been the last carrier to get devices. and the ones they got first were because of exclusivity rights and were never in direct competition with other carries for those handsets.
I am dying to get a nexus one but nobody knows when it will be released. I went and talked to 7 Verizon agents and they all contradict their own responses. They are keeping it a secret for some reason that I can not explain because half of them say they have never heard of the nexus one. I just want to know why they are keeping this so quiet!
Very disappointed with the lack of information being released on Verizon’s Nexus One availability. I think they had a great opportunity to sell a TON of N1s, due to the rumored March 23rd release. All that free advertising and hype down the drain.
I’m sure I wasn’t the only one checking google.com/phone constantly and searching for news stories containing release announcements; even a day later. Instead of taking advantage of it, they just gave us all the silent treatment. Makes me not even want one now, and I was ready to pull the trigger the second it became available on the 23rd.
Obviously, the rumor was not true, but would it really have been that hard for somebody at Verizon or Google to simply say so? They are just as guilty as the ones who started the rumor because they let everyone believe it was true.
Im with Fuzzy – Verizon is awful…They NEED a bigger assortment of GOOD phones without spending time filling them with their useless Vcast stuff that no one uses anyway. Just give us a good phone for once.
I like the HTC Eris, but the Nexus One is the phone for me. WHAT’S UP, Verizon. Talk to us.
My wife has the Droid, but it is a major lemon. Drops calls, routinely. My vintage clamshell is much more reliable.
Once the BOGO promotion for smartphones is gone on the 31st, then the Nexus One will come out. They’re trying to sell as many Droids as possible before the nexus takes the spotlight. Looks like Verizon is pulling the old April’s fools on us.
By the time Verizon figures out what we the people really want, the phones like the Nexus One will be obsolete… Besides, we will already be with T-Mobile, Sprint, or AT&T who give us what we want, a smartphone that is cool, useful and fun!
Why is everyone so surprised? Verizon never has good phones, when the iphone came out they try to beat it out with a LG? phone. They dont have any common sense, the president should be slapped in the mouth for being so stupid.
my dad works for google, and he told me not to get the Moto Droid and to wait for when they release the Nexus. So.. it is comming, but even he doesnt know when
Verizon has the best network.
Verizon sucks!
Mobile internet is on the verge of collapse due to bandwidth issues.
Verizon is protecting it’s customers by not marketing these mostly cool, but in reality, mostly useless phones.
What does that mean?
Verizon’s network is not on the verge of collapse at all..LOL
Currently the network is operating at only 70% at full peak so you must have been either talking about ATT or you work for ATT and like to lie as usual…
I wonder if the issue effecting the Nexus One screens of the AT&T production run and reported in other blogs is delaying the Verizon run. As far as I know, neither AT&T, Google, or HTC has commented on this issue.
Played with the Motorola Droid, the UI and overall product design is clunky, geeky, and unfinished. Reminds me of Windows 3.0. Can’t wait for this to come out. At least its sleek design offsets the functional, yet boxy android.
Verizon,
Why do you seem to be falling behind every wireless company in the country? Please release the Nexus One or iPhone this month or you will have one less Verizon carrier.
Thank you,
Anonymous
Haha, I like how you signed your letter as “anonymous”, but you have your name at the top of the post. Joe.
can’t tell you who i work for…
…but late April.
also expect a surprise…it’ll be worth it.
Ha funny. If the nexus one is released late april. Expect that I have already switched to T-Mobile. I don’t really care about 3g coverage it’s just I love that phone and I am very impatient.
Talked with my salesperson at the local verizon shop today. Inquired about when the Nexus One was coming out. He told me that the news of the Nexus one went around internally a couple months back but to this date, Verizon has yet to recieve a committment from Google. accdg to him, the nexus one was supposed to be out in april or so but its not looking promising for a release at all in the forseeable future. he blamed google but i’m sure both companies are to blame for a lack of nexus one. Not going to wait for the N1 any longer after hearing this.. maybe get an incredible or a droid instead…
Let me guess your a pompus ,coffee slurping,Mac toting,Sapple core sucker. Why don’t you and Luke W go blow each other jackass……Droooooiiiid!
I am beginning to wonder if this has something to do with the delayed upgrade for Droid to 2.1. Perhaps for Verizon it might be a little embarrassing that their carrier supported stock Android phone cant yet get 2.1 and hence their customers have to get a phone from Google instead.
This would not be true for other carriers, but for Verizon the Droid is their flagship phone and is also a google experience phone.
Good thinking here! :-)
Once again you hold Verizon accountable for something they don’t control. That 2.1 comes from Google, not Verizon so keep talking about things you know nothing of…
Verizon is indeed in control of the Android 2.1 update for the Droid. It may come from Google, but Verizon will first test it and then it will push it to the handsets on the VZW network… not Google. Luckily for Droid owners, that’s going on as we speak.
it is probably possible to buy the sprint version and than ‘flash’ a verizon PRL onto it and activate on verizon.
“Droid Does” must be a Verizon employee. I think they send them through Communist indoctrination training or something. They are so loyal to the company, they can’t see the forest for the trees. I like Verizon. Do I like them so much that I would stick with them while the N1 passes by? Absolutely not. And don’t get me started about “Ask Google”. Anyone that feels Verizon has no say in this project should take some time, figure out how the business world works, and get back to me.
Patience is a virtue. Verizon has the best network, hands down. No dropped calls and great 3G. The Nexus One is coming soon and I will be one of the first to upgrade, and right on time with my phone I might add. Have SO outgrown my LG Voyager … :P
@ James Kendrick- come on! Stop posting these ‘articles’
Worse than notes that are rumors are these notes about nothing except to say that we don’t know anything.
You’re wasting my electrons.
Unless you have something to add, stop adding.
Sorry you feel that way but others don’t agree with you. And last I checked, they weren’t “your” electrons anyway.
Last I checked, people aren’t commenting on that you wrote- it’s a honey pot for people looking for news and they’re just writing to each other, bantering at each other about the (still) unannounced phone. Congratulate yourself on the traffic, but not the content. Sorry!
Stop being a bunch of babies. Verizon has the best network around. In my mind the Nexus is worth waiting for to stick with a good network. I had AT & T for 4 years and switched to Verizon because I was tired of the dropped calls and lack of service coverage. I’ve never been happier with the coverage and customer service I get on Verizon. If you just want technology stay with AT & T we don’t want you on Verizon anyway. If you want good quality reliable service and good technology go with Verizon.
Did anyone else notice that Edna St Vincent Millay commented on this post?
Pretty awesome.
Yeah, Besides the fact that she died 60 years ago. Lol
:) Glad you got that
I was at one point an at&t customer, but i switched to verison about 2 or 3 years ago. i like it alot but i want the nexus one so badd, and i dont see the reason that they dont have it out yet!!1 CMON VERISON NOWWWWW!1
Verizon..come on. Step Up. The Storm is very lacking. Tired of the unreliable phone. I am ready to move to AT&T. What is the DEAL here? Your competitors are blowing you away with smart phones that work.
Just annouced that Nexus One comes out today!
April Fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!
good one
guys, it’s very clear why the nexus one isn’t out on the verizon. there are widespread touchscreen issues with this phone. clearly verizon doesn’t want a sub par phone on it’s network. They’re waiting until google/htc can address this issue.
I keep hitting up the page for the same reason. I need a new phone and I’ve been essentially crippled without a phone and won’t settle for anything less than the nexus….this is like torture silent sobs. I want my phone, Verizon! Douche bags.
I couldn’t wait, baught the Nexus One, (unlocked) and am very happy with it. There are no bugs, and it is by far the best phone I’ve ever had. Been a Verizon customer for more than 10 years. But after researching The carriers….AT&t, Verizon, and T-Mobile. I compared data, txt, and talk. Apples to apples…And well, T-Moble wins hands down. I have unlimited web, unlimited txt, 500 min talk and where I work and live, I have great coverage … all for $59.99…So I have to say…Sorry Verizon, but you need to make better business decisions regarding pricing plans… I, like many of other people, work too damn hard for the money. So Nexus one and T-Mobile is my pick…I have to admit that I am a gadget gal, and couldn’t live without an Ipad,(no 3g). Android and Apple…make me complete :)
You’re all idiots. Why in the hell would oyu wait for the phone to come out with Verizon when you can just buy one unlocked off ebay. If you wait for it to be available on verizon and get the verizon phone you will be stuck with a 2 or 3 year commitment and at the end of that commitment you will have paid more for the phone than you would have purchasing it from ebay. It’s freaking economics!!!!!!!
Pot meet kettle. The Nexus One phones on ebay WILL NOT work with Verizon. They are tmob phones. Get a clue.
with the rumors flying around about a cdma iphone announcement coming this june, google can afford to wait a couple more months before they release their smart phone to the verizon network.
Unless you being sarcastic, why would Google and Verizon wait until iPhone OS 4G comes out. they know they have a good product with many customers waiting for, so with the iPhone OS 4G coming out soon this should urge them to even release faster so they can catch good sales ASAP.
On the other note, I don’t see any real reason(s) why Verizon and Google would not release N1 ASAP. I don’t believe what some silly reason people put out there, like shipping issues, and some technical laggings ..etc, or even more silly that Verizon want to be pass the 30 days point for Droid buyers to not be able to return their phone to get N1. I think if there is any reason(s) it would be the followings:
1- Both companies being plain STUPID. I have to vent because this thing is killing me!!!
2- Verizon is trying to not upset Apple, in hope that Apple will release iPhone in Verizon, if not even exclusively in Verizon.
3- Google and Verizon are in disagreement in some revenue details
4- Booth Google and Verizon may very well were waiting to see what is the big thing Apple was about to release so they can put their announcement after, to gain momentum. Now that Apple has released her upcoming big plans (iPad, iPhone OS 4Gs) nothing is left for these two shay wanabe wed to come out and announce their love and show us their baby the N1. Cuz this sop opera need to end.
Here is a petition to release N1 on Verizon
http://www.petitiononline.com/N1VRIZON/petition.html
just got news from a friend who works for Google. Google and Verizon are meeting together in Washington State tomorrow 4-16-2010. Hopefully we will get a release date then!
I went into verizon and asked what the deal was and both reps I talked to just started bashing on the Nexus. Telling me it was full of bugs and defects. They claim that is why Verizon hasnt picked it up yet.
Except when they do finally get it you know they will claim its the best phone ever. Sooooo frustrating
I can’t see why the sales rep for any carrier would have positive things to say about a phone sold outside his or her store but still on his or her network. What incentive do they have to say nice things? ;)
So what’s the deal. Is Verizon holding things up here with the Nexus One? I see the adds everywhere, but I can’t have one. It’s torture!! Give it up Verizon, I’ll take it even with the bugs. By the time the Nexus gets here for Verizon it will be a boat anchor.
i pulled the trigger and ordered the HTC incredible. Let’s hope that was the right decision!
I was hoping the N1 would come first. One of the most attractive feature for me was an OPEN phone. Right now Verizon has control over my BB Curve. some mornings I turn it on and there are new icons on the screen. I hate that they control everything!! But the Incredible looks great. Probably better battery life than N1, but didn’t Verizon say their N1 would have some better features?? I hope so.
4.26.10 Google just announced the NexusOne will not be produced for Verizon anymore. Looks like too much redundancy in phones between droid, droid eris, droid incredible, and new droid coming soon.
see the release:
