Skype promises a lot, but doesn’t always deliver. Prime focus for Skype is Windows, then the mobile PHONES, then the Mac and last AND least other mobile devices.
Since there is still a lot of catching up to do on any platfor that is not Windows, i wouldn’t expect a Skype version for the Nokia n800 anytime soon.

You might also want to check out Gizmo Project, which has been available for the N800 and 770 for quite a long time. Gizmo is SIP based VOIP software and supports secondary logins (they don’t require you to use their service), so you you can use it with any provider you want. I used it recently on my trip to Mexico.

James: This was first announced at CES when the N800 was launched. It was promised for Q2 so a release this month or next is what I’ve been planning on/hoping for.

In the forum of internettablettalk.com that focusses on the N770 and N800, you can read at least one discussion about skype coming. What is neat, is that some of Nokia’s beta-testers/developers are part of the discussion :)
