Sharp 9225H- phone with a MID keyboard
In the "at least it’s not the same old, same old" department, AVING has spotted a handset from Sharp that looks and acts like a MID. The 9225H is surprisingly small and thin yet has a Sharp Zaurus-like keyboard inside that looks pretty darn functional. It has a 3.5-inch wide VGA screen and a little LED display on the outside while in handset mode for phone functions. This will probably never step foot out of Asia but it’s great to see something totally different.

If I recall correctly this is just a “normal” Japanese CellPhone such as the 922SH sold by SoftBank in Japan.
The 922SH sold by SoftBank is actually a Sharp handset a little bit like the Nokia E90/Communicators.
The 9225SH seems like an upgraded/renewed 922SH from Sharp.

Still a nice phone, although the 1-Seg, internet and other nice goodies only work in japan combined with a SoftBank contract.
I don’t know why, but to me it looks like something Casio would have made in the 80s.
And that’s a good thing!
SoftBank doesn’t designate its phones with 4 numeric digits. It’s always 3, followed by one or two letters (of the manufacturer), as seen in their lineup page: http://mb.softbank.jp/mb/en/product/lineup/3g/index.html
Basically this “9225H” or “9225SH” is a complete mistake. The correct designation should be the 922SH, which is definitely an internet oriented device. It’s been out for a few months now. If SoftBank were to upgrade this or any other model, they would use a slightly different 3 number ID, not bumping the digit count to 4. Not to nitpick, but even Engadget was foolish enough to post this same news and they have a good sense of Japanese phone naming schemes.
Otherwise the device itself is very interesting =) The form factor resembles the enV/2 on VZW, which is probably a first in the Japanese market (the majority of phones are flip/clamshells). Such a shame internet functions on their phones are only usable in Japan. All their phones have amazing 3 inch screens with WVGA resolution in nice sleek clamshell phones, which would be great for web browsing =(
