well said kevin. CDs needed inserts with all sorts of art and information to make them worthwhile.
this idea is great if it were 1985…but its not.

C’mon people, use your imaginations. Music on microSD is ideal for:

1. Airport vending. Want to listen to new music while you fly (or wait for your flight)? Grab the latest from a kiosk or vending machine and plug it into your phone. Lot of impulse buying potential.

2. Added value. One microSD card is pretty much the same as any other, so Sandisk needs a way to make theirs better. A blank card or one with music on it for a buck more, which is the more valuable purchase?

3. Viral promotion. Music promoters and the like need a medium they can hand out and be listened to on the spot.

I’d say the idea is niche but not DOA.

I say that slotMusic will replace CDs.

At present, CDs are suffering not because of being a physical medium but because of the form factor. slotMusic addresses this. Full download world is at least five years away.

Regarding number of cards. I have a choice, use them as music or use them as memory. It is a choice I would like to have.

Definitely DOA, agreed… physical media for music only exist now for 1) universal compatibility (CDs) or 2) artistic interest (LPs). A “new” physical format is ridiculous.
