The main reason is the better native support for Tablet PC and touch components. Battery life is very important but even if Vista uses up the battery a bit more, I should be OK with two 6-cell batteries. With 2 GB of RAM on my older Q1P, I found the system responsiveness with Vista to be acceptable. Again, personal preference.

From my personal experience with vista, I can’t think of any, especially in a device where battery life and system responsiveness are paramount.

I just completed the process and have a video upcoming. I was surprised to see that this was different from the Q1U, but it is. Took me at least 30 – 40 minutes.

The Q1UP is designed differently from the Q1U, and earlier models. The RAM chip is located on the under-side of the motherboard, meaning you have to remove a number of screws, and ribbon cables to get to it. I’ve removed the back cover of my Q1UP, but haven’t removed the motherboard yet as my 2GB ram stick isn’t here. Due to the delicate nature of the plastic parts, I’d prefer to do the ‘surgery’ as few times as is possible.

The memory in the Q1UP is located behind the mother board so you have to open the case and unscrew the board to get to the memory chip.
