Samsung’s speeding up the flash drive
We’re always all over flash drive announcements here on jkOnTheRun because having used a UMPC with one of the flash drives I can tell you the performance boost you get foregoing the traditional hard drive is tremendous. The Samsung Q1 SSD I used had a Samsung 32 GB flash drive and they’ve upped the ante with a new 64 GB just announced. The 1.8 inch flash drive is not only double the capacity of Samsung’s previous model but Samsung claims this new one offers a significant boost in read/ write performance. No word on pricing for the new 64 GB flash drive but lets hope the price gets low enough that we’ll see flash drives in all mobile devices before long.

Couple questions:
1) will these devices have interfaces to allow one to replace a standard laptop hard drive with one of them?
2) if yes to #1, then are these expected to be available in the retail channel for DIY upgrades?
Thanks!
