Hi,

i checked some 1GB Samsung PC5300 667 MHz So-DIMM, but they doesnt work :-(
I dont know should i buy some 2 GB
Corsair ValueSelect SO-DIMM 1GB PC2-4200S CL4 (DDR2-533) (VS1GSDS533D2)
or
Elixir DIMM 2GB PC2-5300U CL5 (DDR2-667)

are they running on my Q1-900 first version?

hello, i have a q1, and i love it i use it for work and i have the external battery pack, i get about 8 hrs of use, but when i click the numblock button, i cant use the numbers… this feature just dosnt want to work, in the top left of my screen the numblock button lights up, but the buttons dont actually work. does anyone have any ideas. thx

Just stuck a 1GB stick in and it works great!

I upgraded to Windows 7 which also loads and runs very well on the NP-Q1.

I looking into replacing the Hard Drive on my new Samsung NP-Q1UP Ultra Premium with one of the new SSD drives.

I know that its physical size is 1.8″.
Does anyone know if the drive is PATA or SATA? If I put in a SATA would it be backward compatible?

I bought a Kingston SODIMM 1GB from Buy.com at a sweet $30. It was a retail package, sealed so looks authentic. But after insterting into my Q1b (yes has most recent BIOS from Sam) and powering on, i get a power light, hard drive spins up. But it doesn’t even post, light up the LCD or beep at me…? I put the other module back in and it starts up fine..

I made sure specs for the memory were the same. Actually I have seen a few posts where users have upgraded their Q1b with exact same part number of memory I have with no issues. I re-flashed my BIOS and even contacted Kingston, who were quick to let me know they don’t support it anymore (had to try)…

I really want 1GB but I’m not sure what the deal is? Any one have any thoughts? *stomps feet like 3 yr old*

OK here goes.

I have three questions.

First, how does one enable Etiquette Mode to be ON all the time? That is, when the computer boots up each time, to have it ON by default?

Second, what steps need to be taken to boot using a CF card? I don’t see a provision for that in the BIOS.

And finally, why doesn’t the Q1 boot up with my USB flash card with Syslinux/PING, the way it does on my other computers? It just hangs as Syslinux is being loaded.

went off without a hitch….I used 2gb sodimm ddr2 667 jetram/transcend.

anyone know if the cpu can be upgraded?

As I am getting closer to having enough nerve to upgrade the RAM in my Q1, I find that I don’t have a clear picture of one point. Adrian’s step 3 says: “Ensure that you have the BIOS upgrade to allow the running of a 2gig memory upgrade.”

How do I get this BIOS and how would I know in advance exactly what it will allow ?

Anyone know how to reset the BIOS password on the Q1?? How about resetting the BIOS or CMOS??
