I was hoping it would fall size-wise somewhere near a Jornada.

When I look at the evident size difference between a smartphone and a netbook, it seems logical to me to fit the best features of each into something small like a HP Jornada or a Psion 5mx. I would even go so far as to design a rechargeable docking station to give the smartbook extra ports/jacks/juice.
