She grew to depend on it and was hesitant to part with it. 10 minutes with a Pre changed that…she got it immediately. She used double the data I did last month on my Pre. Google calendars, consolidated inbox, streaming music…she set it all up herself…another first. So yeah, its a big enabler for her.

They also need time to nap, play with the neighborhood kids, play on their own, etc (and yes, I do quite a bit with them myself). I want them to be able to learn on their own, and to experience the real world, not a virtual world.

I was alarmed during an episode of CNET’s “Gadgettes” podcast when the hosts recommended getting a couple of ipods for the kiddies.

At first I thought they where being sarcastic but they quickly stated that they use their iphones to sedate their kids by watching cartoons on the go.
