Pocketables Reviews the Viliv S5 Premium

Jenn Lee published a thorough review of the Viliv S5 Premium UMPC this past week that has captured my attention. The review gives a complete overview of the S5 hardware and included software and addresses the usability in a number of different areas. You will find good photos of the various components and some insight into the different uses the S5 can provide.
The coolest part of this review for me was that I read it while sitting in my comfy easy chair, using Firefox in portrait orientation on the S5, using my finger to drag the web page around. I was doing that when I read the author’s description of doing that very thing on the S5 for the review.
Jenn briefly addresses the included proxy-based web browser Fast Web, an Opera Mobile-like browser that loads web pages very fast. Check out this video of Fast Web in action.

JK, How do you think the Viliv compares to UMID M1. Looks like the UMID device is smaller, lighter and has a harware keyboard.
James I know what you mean when you can just browse a website while standing, relaxing, etc… I use my Aigo P8860 when I know that I will be in a place that I just pull out of my back pocket; 3 seconds from standby, and start surfing the web or some email, or office doucuments.
I think all these small MID’s are finally going to be more widely available in the market and more people will have choices to make on which one they want to buy. I think everyone will have a perference on what they like, so most will basically do what its meant to do. That’s web browse on the go.
I am very impressed with this device and it is on my list when my HTC Advantage gives up the ghost. Can you do some side by side pictures and compare the two. I know you love the HTC and are getting the Viliv S5 so my guess is that is is better than the Advantage. Can you do a compare and contrast on it for us?
How about a tether with the 3g iphone and viliv S5 or even Sprint U300 in the park huh James?
