I am interested in what this product is. Palm hasn’t updated their pdas in a while. New pdas would be nice.

Palm is definitely announcing “a new category of handheld device” tomorrow (May 30). They issued a press release stating that this morning:

As a long-time Palm user (I’m currently on my 6th Palm OS handheld…), I will be very curious to see what they come up with.

My Tungsten|E is just about dead, but I’m keeping it around until the iPhone come out.

However, Apple’s PIM suite of applications (mainly Address Book and iCal) are not nearly as robust as Palm’s (Calendar, Memos, and Contacts), and that’s the only thing keeping me in the Palm camp. If Apple were to release a major upgrade in it’s PIM suite, it would be all over for Palm, at least in my book.

Wouldn’t it be wonderful for users (but a death knell for the hardware side of Palm) if they licensed their PIM apps to Apple?

I already have. It’s called a LifeDrive.

And, yeah, given that this thing will probably run PalmLinux, it’d be closer to a MID than a UMPC.

I’m sick of non-standard stuff and my recent LifeDrive experience only emphasizes my earlier post about cheap devices. I’ll have a post about this on my blog later today too.

Palm is a good example of a company without goals. They started as the best pda maker in the market and have ended as I don´t know what.

Anyway… About this rumor, would have more sense if what Palm is planning to make now is a MID instead of a UMPC.
