I just bought the HP910C because I wasn’t sure when if ever Palm would release this. The Palm form factor looks pretty good, and I would assume their usability customizations of WinMo are way ahead of the (pathetically trivial) HP customizations.

The 549-dollar question though is this: is the TreoPro keyboard larger than the Centro kbd? Engadget hasn’t said anything about this (yet). If yes, then I’m very interested. If not, there’s not way I’m buying it. My wife loves her Centro and doesn’t mind the keyboard, but her hands and fingers are only 2/3 the size of mine!

The HP910C eats batteries like mad when using IMAP mail because it doesn’t auto-disconnect the data connection after it downloads every X minutes. The speaker volume is too low, so that the speakerphone only works if the phone is within a foot of your face. Of course, these problems can both be solved in a ROM update, so HP — here’s notice that the clock is ticking for you to roll out that ROM update!

Ughh, thanks to the boring Treo 800w, I seriously doubt we’ll see a CDMA version of the Touch Pro for quite a while, if ever! :(

Palm has pretty consistently offered unlocked versions of their GSM Treos, but it is definitely unusual that they aren’t also offering any carrier-specific versions. I kind of wonder if they just haven’t locked up contracts with US carriers yet and if those announcements might be yet to come. The press release didn’t really exclude the possiblity…

I like the fact that it’s offered for sale this way unlocked, but I’m thinking that’s primarily because it is aimed at the business market.

It would be great if many more phone models were available to purchase like this.
