i cannot connect any device to the palm pre, i want to send bits from my old phone to my palm pre, it is discoverable and i manage to pair it to the old phone, but when i tried to send from old phone to pal pre, it says sending failed, im very frustrated and just want my palm bluetooth to work, please help

can anyone tell me how to "guess" with the Pre? Say I want to find my next dentist appointment. With the Treo and/or Centro, I could just hit the number button and the capital letter button sequentially, then put in the word I was looking for. All previous and forthcoming mentions of the word would pop up.

What if you don’t have AIM? Is there still an AIM sync that you have to get rid of? I tried going into messaging and signing out of aim, but I don’t have an account. My battery is still pretty bad like everyone is saying on here.

In order to have ringtones on your Palm Pre, you have to plug the phone up to your computer and then download the ringtones and place them in the ringtone folder. Also, if you already have music synced to your phone from your computer you can set those as ringtones as well; however, it is better to download the tones from your computer because you can actually pick which section of the song you want. I’ve gotten all of my ringtones from myxer.com

just thought i’d mention that the acordian feature won’t work if any of your “all day” events are marked to show that you’re busy. this accordian view is only for FREE time (not time that you’re busy). i was wondering this myself, and went back and found that my allday events were marked as “busy”, so i changed them to “available” and the accordian showed up. hope this helps.

Thanks Kevin, I figured it out not long after I posted the post. I have another question, hoping someone can answer this for me. I NEED ringtones, I can’t stand the default ones any longer. I have tried Ventones.com and when I send the ringtone to my phone it gives me a link, when i go to the link it says my palm can’t find an application to open the file?? is it just me? I’ve tried myxer.com and i am getting no where from them too…can someone please help me!! I have never had problems figuring out every little detail about any other phone including my other Palms…the Pre is just giving me issues. I love it but not the ringtones, any help would be Great!!

Danielle, it’s easy to do this, but you’ll need a PC or Mac. Just connect your Pre to a computer and press the USB Mode on the Pre. Then using Windows Explorer (PC) or Finder (Mac), you can view the files on your Pre. Simply remove the songs that you don’t want from your Pre.

Can someone PLEASE tell me how to delete the songs I downloaded from itunes onto my pre? Somehow a bunch of songs i DO NOT want are on my phone and I can not figure out how to get rid of them! Can someone tell me how to do so?

1. I wouldn't say the Pre is the most solid phone I've ever owned, but mine is holding up nicely and I've used it daily since it launched. My slider is fine and I use it countless times a day for emails and texts. Others have definitely seen issues, so I don't know if that's attributable to bad production runs or what. 2. I have the Seidio 1350mAh battery and it's working just fine, even with my Touchstone charger since the battery is the same size as the original. 3. Can't answer the hard case question. I'm not one to use cases in general, and when I do, I usually opt for a soft leather one like those from Sena and Vaja. Even with daily usage, I have no scratches on my Pre.

I’m constantly on the go, in ways that can be hard on things.
1) Does anyone have thoughts about the Pre’s durability?
I’m concerned about moving parts, particularly the mechanisms for shifting to access the keyboard, and their susceptibility to lateral pressure.
2) Has anybody explored extended life batteries?
I’m curious about the standard size as well as those which replace the back door of the phone and theoretically double the capacity, however, they add a few mm of thickness and don’t work with the touchstone. Seido makes one?
3) Has anybody explored hard cases?
Do they provide practical protection, beyond guarding against cosmetic scratches?

Can’t help you with the hardware or Sprint, although both are fine for me. As far as a real SDK: did you download and install it? What didn’t you see there that you expected?

And there’s plenty of app development going on although it appears as more of a development community than official channels at the moment: http://jkontherun.com/2009/08/07/palm-pre-homebrew-apps/ I added a dozen apps this afternoon and while not as refined and functional as I might like, there’s great promise in what I saw during my hands on with the software.

I can’t get past the lousy hardware. Plus I don’t want Sprint. There is no robust app development happening or a real SDK. Fix those things, get it on Verizon, and it might be something.

You can change all the preference for the calendar. Once in calendar tap the top left of the screen and then again on “Preference & Accounts”. At the bottom you can add your gmail account, change the default calendar. You can change the color of your differnt by tapping the name of the calendar and then it will display all the differnt subcalendars and gives about 7 colors to choose from. This calendar is the only thing i have figured out.
