Just to clarify, I would never buy an iphone, that was a joke. I'ts not because I don't like the iphone I think it's fine phone, it's simply because then I would have to leave sprint, and that is something I would never do.

I have never understood the sprint haters, I have never had a problem with my service quality, not in the four long years I've been with sprint.

I think those who have a problem with sprint,"sprint haters", are those who don't know how to pick a plan properly, so they pay to much and blame the carrier. that's Just my theory.

so, I've had sprint for the entire time I've had a mobile phone. Well, excepted for a pre-paid phone my parents paid for in high school, I believe it was an AT&T go phone whichever carrier had those things.

Anyway, I have always loved my service, and never had a problem as far as that is concerned. Customer service was a problem over the years, however as "CTSLICK" claimed it has improved quite a bit in the past few years.

I've currently got a palm centro, and am very happy with it. It's one of the first models of the centro, so, I do have the problems that come along with that. However I am not easy on phones, not in the least! I've dropped it countless times, gotten it wet and dropped it right in the toilet.

Yeah that was gross, but anyway, what I'm getting at is that I love palm. I'm foaming at the mouth waiting for the pre. However it's my hope that palm is taking as long as they are because they want it done right. Their aware of their past, and want this phone to release with as little problems as it can. That's my hope anyway, if that isn't the case then so be it. I'll get an iphone god dammit.

I have my fingers crossed that Exchange interactivity on the Pre is better than the iPhone 3G. I cry when I see what they have done to Exchange on the iPhone 3G. That's all that I really want and WM6.1 has been my savior in that regards but I hate the registry and the top heavy OS. WM does all my music, video, and mobile remote desktop but it's far from perfect. Web OS looks like a great front-end OS but I'll be more interested to see what the back end of it can do.

Nope, just someone who is excited for the first actual leap forward in PIM since the original Palm Pilot quite frankly, since just about every platform since hasn't focused on that (see the iPhone as an example), as well as a multitasking metaphor that after seeing it in action makes so much sense I can't believe it hasn't been done before.

i wanted one, but Palm is taking too long to come to market, and all of the other players are copying their ideas. Yes imitations is the sincerest form of flattery, but i think palm is losing potential market share the longer they wait.

I wanted it, and had planned to buy one of the gsm versions for their european or caribbean markets, but when my phone died i couldn't hold out, ended up getting the HTC Touch HD, and while WM has its flaws, i'm satisfied w/ the better functionality i'm getting w/ the HD. The resolution, size & HTC's amazing work at making the OS more accessible & user friendly has made using the device more enjoyable.

That coupled w/ the fact that i already have all the software i need for work/play tied up in WM and i'd have to purchase all over again w/ a move to a new platform, that is taking its own sweet time getting here.

Palm needs to release the Pre already!!! People are losing interest.

I tried a Storm (didn't like the call quality of the phone nor VZW's prices) and an iPhone. To the ATT fanboy/Sprint hater above - I really can't understand how anyone can consider ATT a quality wireless carrier. OK, so it was an iPhone which has questionable reception, but even in solid 3G areas, I thought the quality was just OK. However, between Austin, Houston & Dallas it was great one mile, horrible the next. Very inconsistent - I had more dropped calls in one week while trying out the iPhone than I have had in 2 years with Sprint. CDMA has spoiled me. I just decided to get a Touch Pro to tide me over until the Pre arrives - AND is run through the paces a bit. I depend on my cell for business and need a working phone (and the TP needed a few tweaks to make it a go). I like WM, but would certainly jump ship to webOS and the Pre if it turns out to be all they promise. If not, I'll be waiting on the TP2 - and maybe even the BB Niagara. But until the iPhone moves to Verizon, I can't jump on that boat.

Just because there are GPS API's doesn't mean Tom Tom can write a full up turn by turn navigator in HTML/Javascript. There's a teeny bit more to it than just discovering the latitude and longitude. Like route calculation/re-calculation and live traffic data.

I've tried the various iPhone 3G navigation options and personally prefer a native mode app with all the trimmings on my iPhone 3G (G-Map). The big issue for me is having the maps onboard the phone. When you have a turn coming up at 65 MPH that's the wrong time for at&t's network to hiccup and interrupt your map access.

I've very aware of the HTML 5 improvements (I sit on the committee) so the short list I put up is based on what I thought could be done with a state-of-the-art webkit.

You aren't doing Seadragon with CSS and Javascript nor do I think you'll see Microsoft whipping up Tags quickly either. And how does HTML 5 help you do the Fast Fourier Transforms required to do the time domain sampling for HeartMonitor to detect and measure your heart rate?

Yes, HeartMonitor is a toy for some but when you've got six steents its a bit more than a toy. But the above list is just part of what I carry around. Others I work with have other collections of native mode apps that I think will hold them to iPhone 3G if Palm can't answer them on its new flagship platform.

I have tried to find matching plans on Verizon and AT&T the last two times I renewed with Sprint. I bring in my Sprint bill and after reviewing with a their sales rep we can never get close to my Sprint costs. It's not even a "I got everything for free 'cause I bugged the crap out of customer service" thing. Just a family plan with four lines. Since Sprint coverage has been good for me and customer service has been mostly good its been a winner overall :) bring on the Pre!

You really think they're going to answer that? They'll say exactly what their response about games was "We're not going to comment on 3D gaming right now".

And for the record, since Palm is providing things like GPS in it's APIs, it is fully possible for TomTom to write an application just like Telenav did. Whether they will is something entirely different (and since you get unlimited GPS included with the plan, I don't see there being a big market for that anyway).

I really that no native apps isn't perfect, but I think a lot of people will be surprised at what is possible with Palm's locally stored JS/CSS/HTML5 applications. We'll have to see at release of the SDK for that.

And I personally do expect that like the iPhone, later in the Pre's life, there will be a deeper SDK released, but for now, the HTML application base is a much better solution than it was for the iPhone just because of how Palm implemented it. That's still one of my top 3 flaws with it, but not one that will prevent me from getting it.

(And if you're wondering, since I have a lot of comments here already responding to the negatives of the Pre and how they're not as bad as people are making them out to be, I'll give you my other two negatives: 8GB isn't as much storage as I'd prefer, and the big unknown is the battery life, which I have a feeling will disappoint me from the enormous extended battery currently on my Sprint Moto q9c.)

I don't want to sound too obsessed here though, so I might have to let others respond to some of the comments. ;)
