I'm dealing with this too. I want the ppl on facebook for games, but my friends are all i would talk to by phone. i don't want unknown ppl on my phone, and i have a seperate "game ppl" in face book, so why can't i only bring in my friends and leave the game ppl?

I believe a lot of people here did not understand the article. It is nice to have the contacts you have on your phone linked to their Gmail, Facebook, Yahoo, LinkedIn, and Exchange. I used the Gmail sync and it found the contacts I had on my phone only no other contacts were added using Synergy.

I used Facebook it invaded my Pre with all my Facebook contacts whom I DO NOT want on my pre. Synergy on Facebook does not bring just the contacts on your phone but brings them all to your phone. While this is an awesome feature I can’t delete the Facebook contacts I do not have phone numbers for.

BTW for the iPhone you can search contacts with Spotlight by swiping to the right from the home screen.

I havent received my pre yet cause im in iraq but will be going home shortly, and my wife has messed with it and said that facebook has added all contacts how do i prevent this, and prevent my gmail accounts from automatically syncing to the phone?

No, the Palm Pre does not give the option to delete them, at least not one I have found yet. I wish it would sync with myspace, though. Or at least let us pick and chose who it keeps instead of automatically taking all of them, and yes, it really does clog up the contact list immediately!

when i tap contacts then try and tap ‘preferences and accounts’ it wont let me.but i already deleted the facebook app should i redownload it then try n 2 delete the extra contacts or wat im lost

To get rid of the facebook contacts: go to contact, then tap upper left corner, go to preferences, tap face book, and then delete account. It will remove all of the face book stuff from your contacts….I found the answer here on the net…. lololo the sprint tech spent a half hour and couldn’t figure it out!!

Its simple, if you took time to actually axplore the Pre you would realise that you CAN remove the Facebook contacts from your contact list, leaving you with only those you put on there initially.

Go to contacts. Tap on the contacts menu. Select ‘Preferences and Accounts’. Select Facebook. Then tap on Delete.

So basically, you either have every single Facebook contact on your Pre or you have no Facebook contacts on your Pre. Either way, it doesn’t matter, with web access readily available you can access Facebook for the information anyway.

I had a blackberry and I loved that I could select a friend and sync that person to fb with the phone being the ‘default’ rather than the fb. I think there should be a widget/app for those of us who dont like the clutter.

Best of both worlds :) I do love my new pre, also loved my bb :)

Easily solved, just go to your contact list, click the drop down menu, hit preferences and accounts, select the account you wish to remove, and then all you do is remove the account. It will no longer show your facebook friends on your phone contact list unless you change the settings again at a later date.

Shawn..do you know anything about Facebook?? Many applications/games require you to have your game members as your Facebook friends in order to fully utilize all features of the game (one being Mafia Wars). You can create a separate friends list and set the privacy to where friends in this list can not read the majority of your wall posts! Drop the holier-than-thou attitude about friending people you don’t know. If you do not understand the app…shut up.
