Jerry, I am aware of that way to get the favorites in but I’d have to install Opera on the desktop, too. As you say, PITA. I love the browser on the Treo though and would buy it today if those two problems went away. If you use an RSS reader on the mobile device the failure to launch links in WM Opera (from other programs) is fatal, and one no doubt very easy for Opera to address if they would.

Despite the criticisms that you mention above, Opera just blows away PIE as far as rendering speed goes.

As for the getting existing favorites in, there is a way, albeit a PITA. You can copy the Opera6.adr file and paste your links into the file according to the file format structure. Sure, it’s a PITA, but once it’s set up, it’s done.

I went ahead and purchased it. So far, I have been able to download things directly from the browser in which I could not do from PIE. I also like Opera’s ability to save the download to any location that I choose, which PIE doesn’t do.

I also really like being able to switch from pocket browser to desktop browser without having to apply a reg hack and doing a soft reset.

I use a browser every day on my commute to and from work. Using PIE is not that bad but can use some fixin’. So, for me, the 24 bucks is well worth it.

I equate this to using WMP10 and spending the cash to buy a better player (ie. PocketPlayer, PocketMusic, etc.).

For java enable mobile phones Opera is the best browser I have used… for my pocket pc it really doesnt offer much beyond PIEplus and skeewzer. $29 for a browser… I think not.

I haven’t DL’d the new version, but I’m disappointed too. The REAL question: is this a problem that Opera can fix or is this something natively inherent in the Windows Mobile operating system? Hmmm….

Just like in the beta I am disappointed to see that Opera still won’t launch links in email on WM devices, even if Opera is the default browser. It also seems like there is no way to get existing mobile favorites into the Opera bookmark system. What are these folks thinking when they miss basic functionality like this and still expect us to pay the bucks for the program? It’s a shame because Opera is a very nice browser on WM devices.
