Opera Passes iPhone for Top Mobile Browser Spot
StatCounter is a web analytics firm that tracks a lot of mobile web statistics and their latest findings show Opera has just nudged the iPhone out of the top spot, based on number of pages served. StatCounter bases its statistics on 4 billion pages served monthly, so there is some merit in these findings. The statistics show that in May, out of all Internet pages downloaded to mobile devices globally, 24.6 percent of them were through Opera and 22.3 percent via the iPhone.
The two mobile browsers have been duking it out for a while and the top monthly spot keeps seesawing back and forth between the two. It looks like Opera gets the bragging rights for another month. Phone giant Nokia ranked third, with 17.9 percent of the pages served.
