Office in a Steamer Trunk
This is not technically about mobile tech, although if you were heading out for a long, ocean voyage I suppose you could bring this with you. It is the coolest home office solution I’ve seen for tight spaces, if you can afford it. The Mayfair Steamer is a complete secretary in the form of a reproduction steamer trunk. It is made of leather, which no doubt contributes to the $4,000 price tag. It has gobs of organized storage built into the trunk, and it folds up to hide the whole office. Is this cool, or what?

this is just too damn cool. i’m a sucker for this kind of thing. i would love to have a poor man’s version of it, as four large is a bit too rich for my blood.
Nice.
I like it. It would also be good for temporary placement of consultants and employees.
You’d get in trouble locking them shut up in this, though. :)
I love this design! I also like the view out the window of the city skyline.
Those clever PR folks. :)
I think the fifth of gin next to the monitor is a nice touch.
Using mobile tech since it weighed 200 pounds.
When I was a kid, I had a late 19th-century version of this called a Wooten desk. It had three parts. The two front parts opened like double doors and had several dozen cubbyholes and cardboard drawers. The middle part had a drop-down desktop, some drawers, and more cubbyholes. The whole concept of alphabetical filing postdated the desk, so there were just lots of cubbyholes. Also, there was no provision for lighting, since lighting back then was gas. There would have had to have been a very well-placed gas lamp right over the desk. Otherwise, either the desk or the person using it would shade it.
Sorry: Wooton.
