Hi,

nope I used OSX, I was not impressed. It felt like a guilded cage, ok as long as you want to do things the “Apple” way. Tried Linux and it was ok, though it does not run most of the applications I use. It was just a pain when I needed to install anything.

Funny enough Windows provides me with the open platform that works for me. I can run what I want and from whoever I want without restrictions. I just don’t feel restricted.

Apple is just a company I find so difficult to respect and I think it is the closed nature of what they do in terms of software and hardware.

James, it sounds like I can hold off getting a new tablet companion for my Macbook Pro. My old HP TC4400 is about ready to fall apart. My question is, does this device use a computer OS (either Windows 7 or OS X)? Either one will do, so no need to specify. Thanks!!

James, Should I hold off another month for buying a HP TouchSmart laptop? My TX2000 laptop is in for it’s 4th warranty repair at bestbuy and they are giving me a $1,050 gift card back, or a smaller gift card and the $850 new touchsmart laptop….should I take the $1,050 and wait and see what HP comes out with next?

Hahahaha! Say “Apple Tablet” and all progressive humanity reverts to the Paleolithic. A club-and-stone war was broken out over god… er.. brand loyalty. Do we need specs on an “Apple tablet” or will you just sign the check in the dark? Besides, James is trying to show us something interesting. I am assuming that underneath all that sarcasm you’re an envious person who *wants* to run OS X, doesn’t want to play by the rules, and is bitter about the whole thing.

If you want such an open, wonderful platform then go download the latest Ubuntu Linux distro and stop complaining.

Apple has no need to open their platform – they’re making money, they have a large, growing base of loyal customers, and nobody can compete design-wise with their platforms.

In what alternate reality would it make sense for them to open up and let others play in their sandbox? IBM did that with the original PC and look what happened to them.
