yeah we wont tell anyone. Well except those who follow us on Twitter… and maybe the people who read my blog, but other than that, not a soul. Your secret is safe with us.
I am assuming that what you are not using will be over priced closed, proprietary, with a built in battery, a lock in to itunes and development of applications will require a Mac. In other words another. What would really be exciting and radical would be for Apple to celebrate 2010 by opening up the platform – both software and hardware, remove the need to use itunes, stop installing software that users had not requested, take security seriously and have a predictable transparent patch schedule. Now that would be a revolution. We can but hope but some how I think it will be a long time before that happens.
Have a great start to 2010 and thanks for a great web site.
Exactly. I like Microsoft, but what I really love about them is the fact I can run any hardware and software I want… not just what they want me to use.
In other words the best tablet/slate on the planet. Sorry dude, but no need to “open up” what is already the best and largest mobile development platform the world has ever seen. It just works. Apple IS the revolution…sit back and enjoy !
I am assuming that underneath all that sarcasm you’re an envious person who *wants* to run OS X, doesn’t want to play by the rules, and is bitter about the whole thing.
If you want such an open, wonderful platform then go download the latest Ubuntu Linux distro and stop complaining.
Apple has no need to open their platform – they’re making money, they have a large, growing base of loyal customers, and nobody can compete design-wise with their platforms.
In what alternate reality would it make sense for them to open up and let others play in their sandbox? IBM did that with the original PC and look what happened to them.
nope I used OSX, I was not impressed. It felt like a guilded cage, ok as long as you want to do things the “Apple” way. Tried Linux and it was ok, though it does not run most of the applications I use. It was just a pain when I needed to install anything.
Funny enough Windows provides me with the open platform that works for me. I can run what I want and from whoever I want without restrictions. I just don’t feel restricted.
Apple is just a company I find so difficult to respect and I think it is the closed nature of what they do in terms of software and hardware.
I never thought of you as a sly fox. but knowing apple usual NDAs and your keen sense of blogging the latest tech news…sooo…hmm… how you like the fruit tablet?
I repeat– that was not written on an Apple Tablet. Also not written on a device with a resistive digitizer nor a capacitive digitizer as neither support inking. Well, to tell the truth this DOES have a capacitive and an active digitizer.
Well, considering a past post about resurrecting an HP Tablet as a netbook alternative, I am betting that’s what you wrote it with…and I am typing this using my HP 2710 tablet.
Hahahaha! Say “Apple Tablet” and all progressive humanity reverts to the Paleolithic. A club-and-stone war was broken out over god… er.. brand loyalty. Do we need specs on an “Apple tablet” or will you just sign the check in the dark? Besides, James is trying to show us something interesting. Cheese and crackers people, who cares who makes it if it’s good?
James, Should I hold off another month for buying a HP TouchSmart laptop? My TX2000 laptop is in for it’s 4th warranty repair at bestbuy and they are giving me a $1,050 gift card back, or a smaller gift card and the $850 new touchsmart laptop….should I take the $1,050 and wait and see what HP comes out with next?
James, it sounds like I can hold off getting a new tablet companion for my Macbook Pro. My old HP TC4400 is about ready to fall apart. My question is, does this device use a computer OS (either Windows 7 or OS X)? Either one will do, so no need to specify. Thanks!!
Cool. I am not making this comment on the Apple Tablet’s Safari browser.
I’ll have a white tablet, if only in my dreams.
This was written on a ageing Motion tablet that is waiting to be replaced.
Why do I not believe you ?? You have been sneaky in the past with little teasers!
Go on tell us all what it is like! You know it makes sense!

TechCrunch?
Archos 9 if you ask me.
Do we get the device if we figure out what it is? :)
JooJoo?
no, it has to be the Archos 9, hoping it was a MAC :(
This comment was NOT typed on a Toshiba TG03 either.
James, I suggest you keep these posts for 4/1! :)
I never thought of you as a sly fox. but knowing apple usual NDAs and your keen sense of blogging the latest tech news…sooo…hmm… how you like the fruit tablet?
if not a apple tablet, joo joo.

so, then, what WAS it written on?
eDGe prototype?
Ultra?
Vega?
(the 11″ that goes with the Ultra and/or Vega?)
Notion ink?
lol it is amazing what ends up in my email.
OH GOD! Please tell me it runs the iTunes OS! It’s my favorite OS of them all!
iTunes OS? since when is there an iTunes OS?
I believe you. Since it wasn’t, you must be free to tell us what it *was* written on. Please enlighten us all.
The Lenovo (X200?) tablet has both capacitive and active digitizers. This was written on a Stylistic ST5011D slate.

Doesn’t look like pressure-sensitive ink there…
I’m guessing a bamboo tablet with MAC drivers
Are you writing it on an Apple iSlate?

Yes and that’s all I can say.

What I am using is Windows 7. :)
The Courier is rumored to use Win 7 while we’re speculating wildly…
Ooh! Is it a SLATE form factor device? I would love to know more..
Also, how can I get you guys to hire me part time to write / review gadgets..?
:-D
Seriously..
