Boy, you must really wanna know about OverStockDealz if you posted 3 times!

I had the same question as you regarding what they meant by description…so I called them up and asked them about it…they said that the N810R they sell are units that were bought in bulk from some retailer. They are new units they said. However, they don’t go through and inspect each box individually, so they write that note to cover themselves…but they said I have 14 days to decide if I want to keep it, so worst case is I’d return it, but doubt that’ll happen…

The other N810 on their site shown as the N810RB is at a bit lower price and is new also, but could have been used as a demo unit or it might not, so likely some sort of open box situation. They couldn’t tell me much more than that. Again can return if not happy with it.

I made them an offer for the N810R and they accepted it so it wasn’t worth it to me to go for the N810RB….

Anyway, so far my experience with them has been good….N810 shipped out and I have tracking info…should be here on Friday….

As for sales tax, they didn’t charge me any as I’m in Silicone Valley and they’re over in Tennessee…

I bought a n810 from the nokia site yesterday with the $90 off deal. Just for kicks I entered a fairly generic coupon code for the 810 that i had gleaned from the net 2 weeks ago……and was rewarded with an extra $58 off.
Total price was $331 with free 2 day shipping. (Down from $479)

Kevin: Trust me on this, but using Ed Hardy as an example to me is just about the worst possible thing you could do, all right?

If anything, it makes me want to flee even faster!

Besides which, I’d rather hanve an iPhone, OK? With, you know, come June, some REAL APPS?

Let us know the quality of the overstockdealz purchase. It says on the site it’s Condition: Like New, in Original Packaging. So it sounds like a refurbished product. Since I’ve never heard of this site, I wasn’t comfortable buying through them.

Also, any tax or shipping charges or was that your total offer?

I get what you’re saying. I have an N800 and it’s basically relegated to ipod duty. I use the alarm clock, and use it as a car PC. I do this because I have a Samsung Q1 which I take to meetings.

But if something were to happen to my Q1 I know that the N800 could be a serviceable backup thanks to Xournal and the Firefox browser.

Likewise if my smartphone got stolen I could get a cheap replacement and complement it with the N800.

I know benchwarmer is not a glamorous position but if the price keeps comming down and the software keeps getting better I wouldn’t be surprised to see Nokia dictate the little tablet market.

Does JK use his N800 much since the P1620 arrived? The Nokia has a price and size advantage, but are there any tasks that an N810 performs better than a P16?

FWIW, a few days ago I ordered a N810 from OverStockDealz and it should be here by Friday….

Got even better price from them, they’re asking $349, but you can click their ‘make offer’ button and they accepted my offer for $300!

Figured at that price, can’t go wrong with it….

Mike, I know this will pain you when you read it (and that’s not my intention) but… you should give the N810 a look. I fully understand your terrible experiences from the 770, but: Ed Hardy writes and manages Brighthand directly from his N810. That should tell you something. It’s a much more capable device than what the 770 was, both in terms of hardware and software / OS. Perfect? No. Capable and worth serious consideration? Yes.

What’s that I smell in the air wafting from Finland? Ah, yes: desperation.
