Thanks for the information. You’ve got me looking forward to picking up a MB after Macworld.

We have a Santa Rosa MBP and a white Macbook here. The white Macbook fans are a noisy distraction, way louder than I expected them to be.

I’m looking forward to the unibody too. I don’t like a flimsy case. It all adds up to offset the lack of firewire, which I still think is a year premature.

Are there any changes to the hinge? Viewing angle or resistance-wise?

Thanks Kevin. I did the same…got the 2.4 at Best Buy with the discount, and after a few days with this thing, I’m in love. I dont love the lack of firewire…but getting over it. I’ll have to move large video files over from my iMac to the Macbook (best method??). I’m actually eBaying my 2710P tablet in favor of this, and a Livescribe pen…another amazing piece of gadgetry. The Livescribe pushed me over the top on my dillema of pen input. Not the same as a tablet, but between that and Evernote on the Macbook – I think I’ve got a solid portable workflow thats stable, fast, portable…and elegant!

I bought one for my iMac a long time ago, and it was quite handy. I’ll probably buy another one for my unibody Macbook sometime soon.

I’ve got the new macbook unibody too (2.4GHz) and it runs Vista perfectly well. In fact, It’s the only OS running on my macbook (I don’t like OSX but I like the macbook) :)

I’m impressed with the look and feel of the aluminum.

I also opted for the new 13″ though got the lower-powered model. The glossy screen is a pain at Starbucks (near a window), but fine at home. As Kevin said, I can’t use my Xohm card and offload my photos at the same time which is a bummer. Once Thanksgiving is behind me, I’m thinking of upgrading my 5400 RPM, 160GB drive to a 7200RPM, 320GB drive and going from 2MB memory to 4MB – total will slightly exceed $200. Still less than Kevin’s MB, but my processor is slower and my keys don’t light up. Also ordered a cool looking new bag. Will let all know if it’s any good.

Kevin, thanks for the thoughts. I too have used my MacBook (in my case, a Santa Rosa MacBook Pro) to watch The Unit after it was bumped by a NFL game. After two weeks of this I gave up and set my TiVo to record an hour extra on the end, which seems to have solved it for me. Of course, having said that the game will now run more than an hour long and render my workaround useless…

Looks like I’m a couple of days ahead of you Kevin. I got my 2.4GHz MacBook over the weekend and have been very happy with it so far. I got it mainly so I could do video and photo editing at work on my lunch break. Since our daughter was born 6 months ago there isn’t much time for doing that at hme on my 24″ iMac.

I own both the original white MacBook and the new MacBook Al, and am very impressed how much cooler it runs, and how rarely I hear the fan in normal use now. In fact, I’m not sure if I’ve heard the fan kick in at all yet, but to be fair, I still use my old MacBook to run VisualHub and Handbrake.

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade to anyone who has a two generation old MacBook.

Sumocat, my MacBook Pro does get hot. Enough to be uncomfortable on my lap, and that’s with the fan running. So far the new MacBook is MUCH cooler to the touch…
