I've installed a couple of audio softwares, an ableton live lite and mu.lab free and even though it gets overloaded with 2 or more tracks at once, i can record some ideas in midi, when i'm not at home (where i have my PC studio)

Just bought Lenovo S12 yesterday and loving it. it comes with Win 7, and even with SQL server express!! yes, I will be installing VS and plan to run IIS too. basically it’ll be dev machine whilst i’m on the move.

I don’t have anything unusual other than I have ran Xitami web server on my Acer Aspire One netbook. It did well. I use my netbook for all of my computing needs. I take a lot of photos and it is great to be able to pull out my netbook out of my backpack and upload them to my netbook. I use MS Office 2003 Pro and I use Visio also. This little computer is fantastic. I like the 8.9″ (9 inch) screen. I also use my Acer Aspire One with a portable Canon USB powered scanner to scan documents for work. Love this little machine!

I installed a full enterprise edition of Oracle Database along with Oracle Developments tools. I was able to run few Oracle applications and to develop Oracle Oracle Forms and Reports with no problems.

I am looking at the Acer netbook as a replacement for my old Dell laptop. I use the Dell to playback MIDI files I have imported and edited in Cakewalk Home Studio 2002. Is anyone running Cakewalk Home Studio on one if the N270 processor netbooks? I am getting conflicting input from all of the salespeople at Best Buy, Comp USA, Staples and other computer outlets as to the N270′s power to handle this type of work. Thanks in advance for any help.

I use mine to sit in cafes and coffee shops and work on scripts, screenplays, note taking, story boarding, and other things you see trendy people doing in cafes and coffee shops. Now that I possibly sound cool let me ruin that mystique by adding that I use it when playing D&D, whether I am DM-ing of a friend is, for the DM to access the wealth of reference info online and that I scanned. It even fits behind the DM screen. Yeah, I’m a nerd…

I’d say that would be pretty hardcore.

I want to sell my quickly aging 3 year old Dell e1405 and purchase a HP mini 1000… is that a horrible idea? I know it will hold it’s value longer, and my Dell is already too slow for extensive photo editing.

Probably the strangest thing was to run an emulated N800 through Scratchbox to test out the software I write for the Nokia Internet Tablet… That, and actually cross compiling the software, but I thought running a mobile device emulator on another mobile device is kinda funny :) It’s useful to be able to do it on another mobile device with a nice keyboard (the Acer Aspire One’s keyboard is superb, better than some laptop keyboards I’ve used) so I can develop while watching the little one sleep.

That, and playing old DOS games on Dosbox, but that was mentioned already.

I've given PowerPoint presentations, taken notes on the slides, and emailed them (via Lotus Notes) to the participants as I was walking back to my office.

While my small laptop - an OQO 02 - is not normally considered a netbook, the only component that is more powerful than some netbooks is the screen. Oh, and it's smaller and lighter - about half the size and half the weight of many netbooks.

I use my netbook to update my calendar when I'm not at my desk. It's an offline calendar called Calgoo Desktop, which offers a sync service that keeps my netbook calendar in sync with my desktop; but if my Net access is unavailable, I've still got my calendar. This replaced a Windows Mobile solution that wasn't really working.

I use my netbooks similar to someone who has a stamp collection uses stamps.. I have bought 9 (with permitations of the same brand) and with 14 umpc's and 5 mid devices 31 pda's they form the basis of my "stamp" collection... much to my wife's dismay!

i don't do anything out of the ordinary with my netbook. since i don't have a desktop or a laptop, i do all my personal and work-related tasks on my Gigabyte M912 Tablet Netbook. maybe one thing out of the ordinary i do is scribbling notes on its swiveling touchscreen which most netbooks don't have.

I have a Kohjinsha SX3 strapped to my leg while flying. With a connected BT GPS, it provides a moving map display in tablet mode and is light enough to be wearable for long periods.

I've used both of my EEEs 701 and 1000H for making few commercial ASP.net based websites on the go. I use VS 2005 for that.

I have also done video editing on the 1000H and it is quite adequate for it. 1000H is little heavy to carry around though (1.5kg), but then you are carrying a full-featured netbook with awesome battery life.

And did I mention that I've edited office docs in the kitchen? You won't want to put your big notebook on the kitchen's slab. Would you? ;)
