The Archos 9 went on pre-order last night. That is probably your best bet for a slate in a while.

I do have to admit that I am considering canceling my order because other than being a toy, I don't know what I would actually use it for.....

1. Sony BDPS360B Profile 2.0 Blu-ray Player with BD Live - having just got an HD TV I really want a Blu Ray player to go with it. This seems the pick of the bunch at a sensible price.

2. B&N Nook - having got into eBooks recently with a PRS-505 I love the look of the Nook. Since I live in the UK I'm going to have to wait a bit before I can get one though.

3. TomTom iPhone cradle - an expensive luxury but it does seem to work well.

4. 27" Apple iMac with i7 processor - I want one :)

5. Apple tablet :)

That's my list except for the crappy Dell (just kidding)

But unless it's all just Smoke this list is going to balloon up markedly with all the recent announcements.

I heard that Verizon will be offering promotional pricing for users that have had their contract for over a year. They are going to be a little more lenient than in the past. It may not be New Every 2 pricing, but anything lower than 599 is good. Anyone else heard this?

I have a wish list too:

1. Get rid of the 5GB caps so I can use wireless data all I want.
2. Let me tether my device freely at no extra cost.
3. Get unlimited data and basic voice for $50/month.
4. Not pay more than $200 for a TP2.
5. Get a ZuneHD with bluetooth built-in, speaker and equalizer (yeah, a phone inside would be cool too).
6. A Pinetrail netbook with high-res screen, good keyboard and decent speakers.
7. A 256GB SSD for $256!!!
8. Batteries that let me work/yap without worrying about recharging them during the day.

I'll be happy to get these any time, not just for the upcoming holiday season. I am also accepting donations, so any generous folks out there who can help a poor, deprived, tech-starved geek get through the next long, cold winter are welcome. ;)
