Just re-read the release and it does say 3.5 GHz, which is actually the most-popular band for WiMax outside of the U.S. So Moto is saying, we'll have this ready for all the major WiMax deployments.

The different frequencies are for the different spectrums currently in use. The Clearwire/Sprint Xohm network will be using 2.5 GHz spectrum, while some current WiMax deployments in the U.S. (including AT&T's) use spectrum at 2.3 GHz; the FCC has also recently approved 3.5 GHz as a WiMax spectrum range, so watch for some rollouts at that frequency.

The bottom line is, Moto is basically saying they will have a WiMax USB dongle for whatever frequency your WiMax operator is at in the U.S. Since you will probably buy it from the operator, it shouldn't be too confusing. For more about WiMax spectrum issues there is always our report on the subject.

I think Clearwire is 2.5.. Motorola can make a phone with 6 or 7 radios in it but you have to pick a different adaptor for WiMAX??? Oh well.
