Kip, from what I've read and personally observed, it appears that this tweak does help performance. As I read Ed's statement, I take it to mean that the average person isn't likely going to find it easy to navigate through the registry for this one setting. I'd agree with him on that point.

You can basically achieve the same result of the registry hacks by going under 'Services' and disabling 'Superfetch'.
No need to fiddle with registry hacks and you can easily turn it on/off as you please.

I'd like to hear more on whether setting DisablePagingExecutive to 1 in the registry achieves anything. I like Ed Bott's quote on this tweak:
"For the average person, making a change to the DisablePagingExecutive setting is like trying to perform a lobotomy on yourself with a pair of knitting needles."

MobileTechRoundup 98 er 99!: Qbacca goes to space, er Spain

Got a question on my HTC Wizard I can open your main page but when I click on a story the page starts to load and then when it has finished it goes blank any ideas? I did a hard reset about a week ago and haven't loaded the latest compact framework yet.
