Sorry, as a correction, the 1.73mhz is running on the 533mhz bus, either the SL9KV or SL92F chip.

From the research I was doing, the Eee 701 has the Celeron M SL7QX chip with is running 900mhz (really clocked to 630mhz) running on a 400mhz bus running with a 910 GML northbridge.

The rumored chip is a Celeron M 430 running 1.73mhz on a 400mhz bus using either 910GML or 915 chipset.

As far as I can tell, if the BIOS is set up for those CPU IDs, it should be plug and play from 900 to 1.7.

This is similar to the plug and drop someone did with the Pentium M chip that was swapped into a 701.

I’d like to see some more battery life data for the EeePC 900 running the Celeron at 900MHz. Some of the data reported at UMPCportal had run times of below 1 hour playing a video (4200 battery).

At present I’m leaning towards the MSI Wind.
