Microsoft Partners With Smartbook AG

Smartbook netbook
German notebook maker Smartbook AG (annoying music plays at its site) has announced a partnership with Microsoft to include Windows 7 on the company’s notebooks. The OEM contract means Smartbook can offer notebooks with Windows 7 as soon as the new OS launches on Oct. 22.
Smartbook AG is not a household name, but it recently got in the news when it sent a “cease and desist” letter to a blogger instructing him to remove the term “smartbook” from his web sites. The company owns the trademark for the smartbook term in Germany and got a restraining order against Qualcomm, forcing that company to stop using the smartbook term in Germany.
