LG building a Bluetooth QWERTY keycard
LG knows that texting is big business, but they also know that most phones have lousy keyboards. That’s why they are getting approval for the LG LBA-C300 Bluetooth Enabled QWERTY Card, a name bigger than the device. The C300 is essentially a credit-card sized keyboard that connects wirelessly to your LG phone and provides a better, or at least bigger, QWERTY keyboard. It looks like it has a tiny LCD screen, so theoretically you could text a message without taking your phone out of your bag or pocket. No word on if this will really hit the market or how well it will be received. Can you see a use for this?

Yes thank goodness. Some of us touch screen phone users need a hardware keyboard. I was looking around but the bluetooth keyboards for smartphones are those folding ones. They are not bad at all and extremely portable, but this is better.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see this launch as an official LG Watch Phone accessory – ideal for messaging or entering new contacts. As for whether things like this have a general use, I’d say yes. I still want to be able to wear my phone on my wrist, and Bluetooth tether it to whatever mobile devices I have with me that day.
If they went the route of the HTC Touch Pro and added a dedicated row for numbers, it would be even better, but still it’s nice to see LG is working on something useful.
In my experience, to get good thumb typing, the keys need to be seperate from each other.
I’ve been waiting for something like this since I switched from HTC’s full-keyboard phones to the Touch Diamond. Bring the keyboard for business, just the (still amazingly small) Diamond for fun.
I hope this will work with all phones!
It might be cool if you could use this to interface with a larger laptop in your backpack.
Pardon my juvenile outburst, but…
