&lt;p&gt;Now, you might think, &#039;well, a quadpod is better, because it has 1 more leg&#039; but you would be mistaken. It takes three points to define a plane. A three legged stool (a tripod) can&#039;t wobble. A four legged stool can (and usually does). This is the reason that full size tripods, and not quadpods exist where portability isn&#039;t an issue and stability is. &lt;/p&gt;
