Kensington Portable Power Outlet- juice to go
One of the most indispensable accessories you can carry on a trip with you is a portable power strip. Hotel designers have a knack for not only making sure there are not enough outlets to power your laptop, cell phone, etc., but that the lone outlet is placed in the most difficult to access location. I always carry my Monster Outlets to Go with me on trips and it has served me well but a new accessory from Kensington would fill the bill nicely too. Targus has a similar product that I picked up at Amazon recently (and incidentally saw at Fry’s for $17.99 last weekend). Unfortunately neither product seems suitable for international travel, as they are limited to 110V input.
I prefer the VEC414s? which is similar to above but DC-driven and smaller in case. Includes air adapter too.
I also like my Tumi universal charger and of course a micro usb hub and various usb cables: xune, N800, S9/820 bt headsets, holux gps, 8525.
I’m not understanding vendor proprietary charging solutions when usb works just as well and is standard.
Only freaky thing is sometimes you need sync cable or charge-only cable when going off of hub. Also sometimes similiar devices (usb rechargeable batteries by targus and apc) don’t recharge the same way over usb.
It’s the USB ports that set it apart from the Targus and the Monster device. I just carry a $3 three way splitter (http://tinyurl.com/686wy7 ), but the ability to combine a USB charger and power strip is tempting.
