jkOnTheRun review- MacBook Pro gets mobile with the Waterfield SleeveCase
I have been loving the 17" MacBook Pro since it arrived at Mobile Tech Manor and it has a warm spot (literally) on my desk where it’s performing well as a complete desktop replacement. The screen is to die for and the speed of the Core 2 Duo processors is flat out quick. While my intention is not to use it as a mobile device too much due to its size and weight now that I have the Waterfield SleeveCase I have begun venturing outdoors with the MBP in tow. I took it to a Geek Gathering last weekend in Houston where my wife used it to blog from the coffee shop where the meeting took place. She even posted about the Mac experience on her blog. I am now taking it occasionally myself to coffee shops when I need to do some serious writing and the Waterfield case makes that very easy to do. Read on for my impressions of the SleeveCase and some photos of the Mac encased.
The MBP is very thin and the SleeveCase (17-2) fits it like a glove.It’s exactly like the SleeveCase I have for the Fujitsu P1610 onlybigger, of course. The pocket on the back is perfect for carrying theMighty Mouse with me so I can mouse in style, although I’m prettypleased with the touchpad on the Mac, especially the two fingerscrolling. The SleeveCase with the big suspension strap distributesthe weight of the Mac well and it doesn’t feel heavy at all. It’spretty cool to sit in Starbucks or the equivalent and write to myheart’s content, at least for the 3 hours the battery lasts. That’snot too shabby a battery life given the power this thing has and the17" screen is definitely a power drainer. I’m not about to carry theadapter with me, that just goes against my grain. Is it me or is the Tabletscape on fast forward today? I just heard you say on the latest MoTR podcast that the MBP never leaves your desk. Then, I saw Rob Bushway’s giving away bags, including a Waterfield SleeveCase. Now here you are showing off your MBP in a Waterfield SleeveCase, taking it away from your desk. It’s like the ‘scape has twisted into a mass of crossed paths winding back upon themselves. Must be a glitch in the Matrix.
…nifty sleeve but it doesn’t have the chic or style of a Dicota or a Tucano.

Sumocat, you know me, I can’t sit still for very long. BTW, I got the Waterfield SleeveCase just so I can take the MBP to Starbucks and see if it fits on those little table tops. It does.

It is really nice, it keeps the palms of your hands cool from the Apple hot spots and it has a really nice keyboard cover. The cover prevents the oil and dirt from your keyboard from getting on the screen. I have reading your sight for awhile, I also have a Samsung Q1 and just returned the Nokia N800 a couple of weeks ago. Keep up the good work… Nice switching also.. for a MS fellow..
