i have also a problem with my sound, there is shown, “no audio devices are installed” how can that be? can me hellp smoebody?

Has anyone managed to get the resolution switcher working under Vista? I’ve installed Vista Business (Fully Reg’d etc..)…

The system is 99% working, stable too, apart from the screen resolution switching. The display for changing the resolution appears, however, the device doesn’t change the resolution. It’s stuck in 800×480. Which specific drivers are people using to get the resolution to actually change?

The next problem is that the battery manager fails to work at start up, and throws a message such as only the administration can access this. I’m just going to uninstall that, I can live with that, but I really do need the screen resolution switcher to work.. HELP!!! Also, when i rotate the screen, the touchscreen mouse flips sides… Any cure?

Hi Kevin, I have been following your steps (it would be great if you could provide a written procedure for this) but I am still having problems:
1. Installing the Samsung Bluetooth software always makes the Q1 bluescreen (ironic huh?) I completely uninstalled the wacomm Bluetooth and let Vista install it’s own drivers. It works but I don’t have any drivers for thdevices I’m tring to attach to.
2. TIP does not show up anywhere, I can’t write into any of the dialog boxes unless I connect a keyboard. I can’t find where if at all it is being blocked. Same goes for FloatTIP. Where did you find the TIP software on your Q1?
3. No sound. I have tried installing various version of the driver only to get error messages half way through the install.

If you can offer any advice or ideas i would be eternally grateful.

where is 6.14.10.4704 driver? I see only 4545 on Samsung's drivers. I can change brightness and resolution on Vista RC2. after installed Samsung's software UI and displays manager (from previous XP versions)

Sweet. I installed the latest Intel Graphics (Version 6.14.10.4704) and the menu now works. I can now rotate the screen, increase/decrease the brightness, etc..

But.. the resolution switcher still isn’t working. I went to the display manager and it appears that the only resolutions available are 640×480 & 800×480. I reinstalled the Display Manager and get the same results. Any tips to point me in the right direction?

Thanks for the positive comments; it makes the effort worth the while. Rodney, ever since I got the latest, greatest Intel graphics driver installed, Display Manager has been running fine. I lost the onscreen display functionality but reinstalled the driver to get it back; I also turned off automatic updating in Windows Update and now I appear to have no issues. Bill: I had an ATSC USB tuner in my hand yesterday at Best Buy but at the last second put it down. I have some feelers out for a review unit and I want to wait for those queries to come back before another out of pocket expense. It didn't help that I had 2 copies of Tiger Woods 07 for the Xbox 360 in my hand at the time. ;)

Great video! I don't plan to be experimenting on "Dude" anytime soon but I love being able to see what Vista looks like running on a Q1. Great work! Please keep us posted if you get any update on the USB stick TV tuner. I'm very interested in catching a little digital TV on my Q1.

Thanks a lot Kevin. I installed RC2 on a separate partition on my Q1 shortly after you did and all your research has been very helpful. The main problem I'm having (which is the reason why I switched back to XP from RC1) is the display manager crashes. How did you get the resolution switcher and the menu to work?

Well, I was glad to see Vista running on a UMPC as well as that; with the slower processor I was expecting a much more sluggish response than shown. Good work, Kevin!

I can’t see myself paying to upgrade my Q1 to Vista, but I’m impressed with what I’ve seen of the OS so far.

I found this site off gottabemobile, and since then I’ve dled a few of these video edition podcasts. You go in depth and are very detail oriented.

For those reasons I wish to say thank thank thank thank you.

1.5 minutes C|Net videos don’t cut it anymore!

I REALLY would like to see a video review of the Lenovo ThinkPad X60 Tablet by you whenever that item is released.
