jkOnTheRun video- HTC Advantage in action
Download or watch video here (M4V format, 33.6 MB 21 minutes) or (WMV format, 14.4 MB, 21 minutes)
I have been getting a lot of questions from folks about the HTCAdvantage and after thinking about it I decided the best way to answerthem and give viewers a taste of what using the Advantage is like wasto shoot a video. This was recorded using the remote control softwarethat Kevin Tofel found and told us about a while back, My Mobiler. The screen capture was done using Camtasia Studioon the Lenovo ThinkPad x61. It was shot to give a near 1:1 look at theAdvantage screen so you get a very close feel for what the screen lookslike. (NOTE: the iTunes version is half-size, WMV is full size VGA). There is a low-res small YouTube version for the bandwidth challenged.
In the video you will see what is pre-installed on the Advantage, afew programs that I have installed and a look at web browsing. If youcome away with an idea of what it feels like to use the Advantage thenmy mission is accomplished. Enjoy the show!

Boy, that humongous clock is sure eating up your today screen space.
Ditch it ;) and check out SPB Diary. Great piece of software.
That’s not the today screen….
I just looked at it. Grrrr… you didn’t cycle through the Views options with Opera. Grrr!
Otherwise, sheesh, this thing is the same price as a top-end Everun!!
JK, I enjoyed your video. I am assuming that for all programs out there PI, SPB ,etc its the standard WM 6 versions and they just adjust to the new screen size??. I am planning in buying the device, but my Comapny uses Good Link for the mobile e-mail and I am assuming it will work the same as installing PI or SPB it will fit to screen.
Thanks David. Any program written to Microsoft standards should adjust to any screen resolution and handle rotation too. I haven’t run into any programs yet that don’t work fine.
Mike, the price should be irrelevant to you since you haven’t bought a mobile device since they weighed 30 lbs.
Previously posted on the wrong story…
In the past the RSS (Newsbreak) reader on my WM device (HTC Mogul) has been able to download and play your videos in Pocket Player. However, this post downloaded but would not play. I checked your site and there has been a switch from MP4 to MPV. Nothing I have will play the MPV. I see there is a WMV version, but what is the feed URL to have it download the WMV automatically?
James,
This thing continues to impress me, except for the price of course, way too over priced. Here’s a question: Do you think that that the UMPCs should of been Machines like this with Windows Mobile on it, to create the real companion to your computer? The UMPCs would of been thiner and smaller.
By watching your videos, it just seems more and more Windows Mobile is really nice on a 5 inch screen. Much better experience then a 3.5 inch screen.

What you meant is I haven’t bought anything $1K+! So true.
