iTunes Plus- not for Nokia phones
Apple created quite a stir when they announced iTunes Plus, the offering of music without DRM at a higher price. The ability to purchase tunes without DRM means that consumers can take those unrestricted tunes and play them on any player in addition to iTunes. This is particularly important to those who want to take their music and play it on mobile phones. Some people are reporting that these DRM-less tunes do not play on Nokia phones, many of which have been optimized for music playing. The guess as to why these tunes play most everywhere except Nokia phones is that Apple is pulling a stunt they always pull with iTunes music and are extending the AAC headers beyond the standard. Here’s hoping Nokia can get a fix for this as I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for help from Apple.
