I don’t have street view. I do see that red icon on the left, but it’s grayed out.

I am glad that apple is continuing to update the firmware, but can they get some priorities straight? Like better integration with exchange calendar invites and some copy paste. I would love to replace my blackberry with an IPhone at work, but these basics need to be provided. Sure Street view is nice, but all its going to do is help me find the soup line if I lose my job because I missed a calendar invite.

I did the same thing… It took me a while to figure it out and I am usually good at figuring things out (I never rtfm).

OK, definitely user error combined with a lack of coffee. Thanks for the correction Jay! I didn’t know that you could only access Street View from the icon that only appears with a push pin. I figured there would be an option to start Street View from any supported location view, not the specific push-pin view. Not entirely intuitive in my book, but still my bad. Thanks!

First, Street View is only available in certain areas (PC or iPhone). Second, you must have a pin on the map and when you see the balloon for that pin an icon will appear on the left side of the text for that pin if Street View is available for that pin (what a mouthful). Click the icon for Street View. You can get a pin from an address link or by placing one manually.

OK, very odd. I was simply searching areas of Google Maps in SanFran thinking you could access Street View that way, as you can on the full web client. No icons there to tap for Street View. Getting directions from Philly to San Fran and scrolling to SanFran shows me the new icons, but they’re greyed out and inactive. Huh?!?

Jay, I can’t touch the icon on the screen because it’s not there for some reason. Nor is the Metro or Walking directions icons. I’ll chalk it up to user error on my part if you say it’s working on your first-gen iPhone. I simply don’t see it.

Loudly correcting you, Kevin. Street View and walking directions DO work (very well, actually) on 1st generation/non-3G iPhones. Not sure why you cannot simply touch the icon displayed on the screen.

I agree with you Shawn, but you can still download larger podcast files over WiFi. Apple could always remove the restriction in the future as well.

I like the update and new features. However, I wish that podcasts downloads were allowed over 3G for larger files. 10MB is to small to include many podcasts. In the past, I have downloaded podcasts of 30-40MB on Windows Mobile phones using programs like Newsbreak or Kinoma.

These updates do in fact update the entire firmware so it’s an image that is being downloaded. Mine is installing right now. Hope it doesn’t brick it. :)
