Injunction prevents Vonage from signing new customers
The latest salvo in the Verizon versus Vonage patent infringement case was fired by a judge that has issued an injunction barring Vonage from signing new customers. The ruling by a US district judge practically cuts Vonage off at the knees although the VoIP company will appeal. Vonage was earlier ruled to have infringed on a number of Verizon patents and has been negotiating with the communications giant on a compromise to allow Vonage to continue operations.

Does anyone else see this as Verizon’s attempt to stop a massive hemorrhaging of customers to all the new VOIP startups? Verizon is a lethargic bloated piece of antiquated machinery that simply cannot compete with younger swifter competitors. So instead of going on a diet, and updating itself to compete with the times, its decided to muscle, strong arm, and pressure it’s competitors into submission.
I wish the judge had ordered them to mend their ways on making it as easy to disconnect services at Vonage as they make it to establish services with them.
They provide zero details on how to turn off lines, features or even disconnect entirely from them.
And it’s been that way for years, not just recently.
