Engadget got one to test, and they are extremely underwhelmed by it. They couldn't get any reception from 30 or 15 feet away with a hollow wall inbetween, and even with a strong signal from 6 feet away with no obstruction, speed was nearly 100 times slower than the claimed 480+ Mbps. Fast enough for printing, but not as a makeshift NAS solution or any kind of media sharing. Not to mention the dongle is ginormous.

It's really amazing how much having a laptop can change your computing habits. I feel bad for my friends that come home from a desk job and have to sit a desk again just to chat with their friends while I'm laying on the couch/floor or even in my recliner watching TV.

If I remeber correctly its the UWB able to connect at something like 480mb? IF thats possible it think it would be nice to have a usb network card thats hardwired to your network plugged in. It would be alot quicker then using wifi when pulling huge HD videos. Running backups to my NAS would go alot quicker.

Keep it mobile,

John,

The nice part is that you could have your suite of office devices plugged into it, then just drop down your laptop and be connected.

I have a hard time understanding this product. With this you have one less cable from the PC to the HUB. This "wireless" hub still needs power so you have to plug it in the wall. Additionally each device you plug in it also coincidally has a cable. The only advantage I can see in this product is if your PC is a far away from the hub, like if you like to have your printer somewhere else than your PC.

I'd be very tempted if not for the price and the size of the USB plug. Make it a PC Card and drop the price to $99 or under and I'll snap one up quick, fast and in a hurry.
