I should have changed desks sooner
Due to some real-estate consolidation at my employer, I now desk share in the office twice a week; I’m at home the other three days. What’s the first thing I did at the new desk? Did I:
A: Set up pictures of the family
B: Look out the nice window (new perk for me)
C: Run an EV-DO speed test on the XV 6700 and Q1
If you said "A" or "B", you must be a new reader: welcome and enjoy the ride. I’m enjoying my ride because these window seats offer some serious EV-DOability! Is anybody clocking at or above these speeds with 3G and if so: what device are you using and who’s your carrier?

Darn…your desk it better than mine. (Well, at least situated for greater download speeds) Here in lovely Earth City Missouri (just outside St. Louis), I get around 600kbps down and around 117kbps up.
957 Down and 79 Up in Orlando near a window with the Q1, the u132 USB adapter and a verizon v620 card.
Not near a window, inside a brick steel reinforced building, I get 1400 down and 310 up with a Samsung ZX20, USB tether to a Macbook Pro on Cingular.
I am, but then you already knew that, now didn’t you? ;)
Evan, you write for Engadget so I’d expect at least a 10 Mbps download from you! ;) Let me know when you’re ready for another head to head EV-DO speed test buddy!
Where is this speed test you used. I like the interface.
Tony, the website is http://www.speedtest.net; I highly recommend it for home and mobile broadband tests.
I am getting about 1200 down and 300 up on Cingular HSDPA. Aircard 860
I currently use an external Huawei E220 HSDPA USB modem connected to my Mac and even though my mobile phone signal is quite weak here, I still get around 2.4Mbps downloads. In areas with better signal strengt, I even managed to get nearly 3.6Mbps, the rated maximum trhoughput on HSDPA networks right now.
