I-O DATA offers SiRFstar III GPS in a small USB package
I can’t vouch for the satellite reception, but if I was in the market for a GPS receiver, I’d take a good long look at the Navi Clip from I-O DATA that Akihabara News found. At 150 Euros, it’s not the cheapest GPS receiver by far, but the small size and USB form factor make it desirable in my book since I rotate through devices several times a day. The Navi Clip uses the SiRFstar III GPS receiver, which as far as I know picks up GPS satellites relatively quickly when compared to older chips on a Time to First Fix basis. There’s nothing worse than waiting for two or three minutes to find those sneaky satellites; I’ve been known to just use the sun and make a best directional guess at that point…
