HTC’s HD2 is Bound for T-Mobile
Just a quickie update from last night’s Microsoft keynote event in case you missed it. HTC’s HD2 — arguably the most potent and powerful Windows Mobile device yet — is indeed bound for U.S. shores as expected. The question answered last night was: which carrier will get it? That would be T-Mobile exclusively (at least for some length of time), which is scoring some hot devices for its sped-up network these days.
Like my Google Nexus One, which arrived today at my hotel, the HD2 rocks the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon. And if you asked me who’s getting the buzz at this year’s CES, I’d say Qualcomm and their mobile processor are in the running — while we initially saw the platform last year, we’re now seeing the benefits of it in actual shipping products. Now that folks know what to expect, they’re all buzzing about the smartphones and smartbooks that are running on this platform.
There’s no price for the HD2 just yet, so I expect that we’ll hear more details by Mobile World Congress. And while I know nothing concrete, I have a feeling that the device will come in at a compelling and surprising price point.

We have all seen the complaints from HTC HD2 owners, and the problems that many experienced. There are a lot of issues with the HD2 that still haven’t been ironed out, which is very disappointing.
Hopefully HTC has done a better job of the Nexus One, and shaken the bugs out before shipping.
if you haven’t seen or used it don’t comment about it. I’m from Hong Kong and have been using this phone for weeks. Its gorgeous to a point that you cannot imagine without seeing it. And you better be more specific about the flaws because I haven’t seen any.
thank you for saying that. Alot of people talk without knowing. I ll be getting the HD2 in March yes Im in the US. but yeah this is the kind of phone I’ve been waiting on for a long time. I have nt seen it personally yet but i’ve done alot of research on it and Im in love. And what i love the most is that it has nothing to envy the Iphone. : )
Have been using it for about 2 months and so far seems like a great device. Most of the complaints I have seen are either from people who have not seen it working or people who have not used smartphones/windows mobile devices before and jumped to this one without understanding the concept of customizable smart phones.
Any “complaints” you’ve seen are from a very small but very vocal number of users.
The reality is that the HD2 is one of the best phones available today with a hardware and software combination that can’t be beat. I’d recommend it to anyone.
Absolutely not so, you may be living in a reality distortion field.
Yes, HD2 is a great piece of hardware, but the software (specifically WinMo 6.x) is just an attrocious abomination.
Therefore the hardware/software “combination” can very easily be beat !
Don’t be afraid, just give the Android or iPhoneOS phones a try, you won’t be dissapointed, and at the same time you will clearly see the many superior features that these phones offer.
Please don’t be a WinMo bigot
:-)
Have you used an HD2? If not then you don’t know what you’re talking about.
HTC makes android.
OS is really not an issue here. When windows 7 mobile comes you upgrade the OS on these devices. ROMS on htcs are floating around the internet. You can even install android on this device. For me I’ll stick with winmo 6.5 for now. It gives me more flexibilty than android and iphone bec so much more you can do in winmo if you know how to.
Im pretty sure by the time the HD2 comes out on T MO USA most of does issues will be gone. And HTC is really not the problem
its Window Mobile Im pretty sure thats causing that. But my opinion, the HD2 Rocks… PS There is no perfect smartphone
sooner or later you ll find
something wrong with it…
One of my colleagues has an HD2, and I’ve played around with it – it’s a very nice phone. HTC has done some really good work smartening up Windows Mobile to hide its worst points, too.
I made the mistake of thinking this phone was better than the G1.All it really has is a better picture quality. You can do more things with the G1 it has better apps. You can’t even us music on your SD card as a ringtone. The HD2 has froze on me twice.
