Hello Jeff, sorry to bother you I just need a little help please: what I'm trying to do is change interface on my Htc D2 I have the Spb mobile shell and pocket plus, how is possible to sweep from spb to Htc Touch Flo 3d and from Touch Flo 3d to Spb again?. The main problem is that the Spb mobile Shell get the primary position as default. I have the Xperia panel on Htc and I installed the Panel of the Manila Touch Flo 3d but it cannot load it...I haven't got any problem with Xperia but with the Htc diamond 2 I have a big mess now. I tried to install Second Today and ms3Togglersetup and even MTP Install configuration. But I couldn't do it. The only this I achieved is Touch Flo 3d and pocket plus changeble thanks to second today but I cannot have the Spb Mobile Shell. Do you know the right way ... if you know it can you please send me the solution to my email address: francomur99@yahoo.it
Many thanks
All the best

Indeed, the UI TouchFlo 3D v.2.0 is an amazing piece of work by HTC, however I feel that they've been working alone (without microsoft) since this UI consume a lot of resources (memory) and it is dificult to run other apps, like Opera or IE.

Do you wonder why MS didn't work with HTC in this UI? it could be embeded in WM 6.5, and be a hit! but let's face it, it still Micro

Android with TouchFlo seems a really good idea! :)

TouchFlo2 is out now, and it masks even more of the WinMo UI with more friendly ui. I found the new UI to be much more usable than the old one. It covers the calender and other apps that were once more stylus oriented in their WinMo versions.

Also, many new 3rd party apps that are coming out now are way WAY more finger friendly than a few years ago.

I tried living with TF3D. Didn't much like it, other than the music player. My primary interface is the today screen with a selection of plugins including SPB Pocket Plus and ProjectION Digitial clock. I use SPB Mobile Shell as a program launcher and dialer, but normally leave the phone on the Today screen. Today is highly underrated, mainly because people don't bother to seek out a good set of plugins to use on it.

I like the idea for what it could become.
It would allow software companies to focus on providing a stellar operating system that works like it should for its target market while freeing it up to allow graphic designers to make it look good. Geeks make things work, we dont quite get the "it has to look nice to" argument.
:)

Take this a step further, why not build on this and and "virtualise" the UI so that it could run on any platform?

Yes VMware announced something like this and i think it would be a great idea, forcing the software development teams to build a better OS, not just an OS with great applications.
The positive spin i see from this is that there would be tighter integration between the Operating System Developers and the Handset manufacturers to create devices that were made for one another since and not just work together.

A unified UI is a key way that the phone manufacturers can differentiate their product from their competitors. How many times have we compalined in the past about cookie-cutter Windows Mobile phones?

The case in point must be Samsung which has implemented TouchWiz across all its OSes, be they proprietary, Symbian S60 or Windows Mobile. I am sure that a port to Android is also in the works.

I have different ideas about UIs. I suppose companies have to cater to different groups of people, and I prefer things to be logical, but most people care more about having a slick and cool UI.
I like the HTC interface for being black rather than green, but that's about it. The volume control, which is the only thing I haven't managed to disable, is just buggy compared to the standard one. (Can't mute/unmute)
What I want from future WM is more features (e.g., a more fully outlook client, more customizability).

Unfortunately running a non HTC App will dump you back into the familiar WinMo OS.

I know Winmo gets a hard time but we owe it a lot for getting us where we are today. I was using Win CE devices from Philips in 1997 then onto Cassiopeia, E105 then E115, then onto Pocket PC Ipaqs, Axims etc. All gave a lot of the same utility we now get on say an iPhone or Android, albeit less slick! A WinCE core is used on hundreds of devices - sat navs, point of sale devices, inventory trackers etc and does the job well.

MS rested on their laurels however and really should have added more polish before the iPhone came along and blew WinMo away with its UI (although not necessarily its utility).
