HTC Leo, First Phone With Snapdragon, Is a Screamer
I am entrenched in my evaluation of the HTC Hero Android phone, but another HTC phone is looking more interesting by the minute. The HTC Leo is slated to appear soon, and it will have the Snapdragon processor onboard, running at 1 GHz. This processor is believed to up the game on smartphone performance, and benchmarks have revealed the HTC Leo may be the fastest phone on the planet.
The benchmarks have shown the Leo to be more than 300 percent faster than the comparable HTC Touch HD on all 3D graphics tasks. That’s three times faster, last time I checked. The tests published show an astounding 1,822 percent improvement on one of the tests, and the raw CPU performance was a solid three times faster overall. The HTC Leo is looking like a real screamer, that’s for sure. I wonder how that performance hits the battery?
The full benchmarks can be accessed here, although they appear to be slammed at the time of this writing.

Palm needs to license out to HTC the same way they used to Sony & then put webOS on that baby!!!
James, the Leo isn’t the first phone with Snapdragon in it. Toshiba’s TG01 has been out for a few months now with a Snapdragon processor and Acer will probably be releasing their Snapdragon-based phone before the Leo comes out.
Is this coming to US and which carrier?
300 per cent faster is actually four times the speed. (100 per cent faster would be twice the speed.)
@Jake, doubtful, seeing as how the Leo is slated for Oct 12th release on O2 UK.
