Purchased an tc1100 after having a tc1000. Very pleased and surprised with the unit. I used to make sure I had the keyboard along with the 1000 as it was so slow. Now I never bother with the keyboard. First heard of these units through JK on the run so many thanks. I teach, take notes, and draw! Wouldn't trade it for anything.

I've also purchased a pcmcia sd adapter to read the sdhc cards! The only thing I would add is longer battery life! ;)

Ron

My eBay startegy with respect to the TC1100 and batteries is: If you buy enough low cost ones the odd dud does not matter. Result about 10 TC1100 purchases for me and clients. One "dud" TC1100 but it was my fault. I misread the spec or did not ask enough questions. It had the lower quality screen. Good for spares. Batteries have a higher dud rate for 10 bought for various HP Tablet PCs. 1 in 3ish don't give the full discharge period. So it may be worth paying for tested / guaranteed one. Or just ask the seller the awkward question.

About replacement TC1xxx Batteries
I need to replace the TC1100 battery. If you have done any shopping, there is quite a display on Ebay of 3rd party batteries in the $35 to $55 range and then there is "Used, tested" real batteries coming in at $40-$65" and then some higher end 3rd party batteries at the $50-$60 level.
Has anybody bought any batteries and found a good deal.? Something they were comfortable with? Usually you can call the ball on these things but I spent about an hour last nite and could not bring myself to "cop" as we used to say in the day.
If I could trust a abttery seller that had real testing equipment I wouldnt mind a real certified used batteries. A few of those were at $45 shipped. But you guys know the deal on that. Hard to be coomfy

Anyway, if you have some info, I am in the market. Instead of the TC1100 being my Netbook replacement, now its my IPAD replacement!! What a device!!

BTW, when searching for this thread, this article was the 10th most popular article on JKOTR in 2009. Now that does say something about the device

Its amazing how this thread keeps going and going. Its like the JKOTR Energizer Bunny of Threads!!
I have had a TC1100 for a few years. (Last version of TC1100 running the 1.2 Pentium M with 1.5 RAM, BT & WiFi, 60GB HD) Love it, have no plans to sell, ever (Well ever is a bit lets say anytime soon!!( I have VISTA Business on it running very well, just the SD card issue, still never got it working.
I would love to make the Jump to Win 7 Business. I have seen a few "It will not run..."
Has anyone got the TC1100 running 100% on Win 7. Whats my potential downside? What will I lose? I know the comments have been made, but I think myself as well as others would like the current situation to date.
Thanks to all who spent their time getting the "TC1100 Scene" to this level
Ron

OK. I gave up and installed Win 7 on my TC1100. It's very good. I can pair my Stowaway BT keyboard, but when I type there are no characters. Do I have the wrong BT software?
Thanks

Jack, any of these could help:

The WiFi and the Bluetooth are not independent. Make sure the wireless light is on i.e both sets of hardware are enabled. Bottom right of tablet.

Reset the keyboard.

In XP control Panel - Run the Bluetooth Configuration > Discovery and tick look for other Bluetooth Devices

On my TC1100 with XP SP3 -

My Network Connections > Bluetooth Network exists but Network cable unplugged

My Bluetooth Places > All items say "No local Bluetooth device was detected"

Looks like I have the same problem as you!

Andrew Wilcox -
Thanks for the driver location, but I not only already knew that, & I found the original driver CD. Maybe I'm installing BT wrong. Before the virus, I could click on My BT Places and find / connect my KB. No longer. It's not there. I really want to use my Think Outside Stowaway KB. I need help setting up BT.
