further info.
it’s possible to revert back to xp from vista if and only if it’s “custom” parallel upgrade. that is if you chose “Custom” upgrade when you did the upgrade inside the windows xp environment. here, there are two options in upgrading, “custom” or just “upgrade”. if you chose upgrade you cant revert back to xp. there will be no windows.old folder
if you did the upgrade by going into the DVD drive right away (outside windows environment) then you can’t revert back to xp as well.

If only this had been posted 2 weeks ago, when I did the Vista upgrade and then 24 hours later the xp reinstall on my R2H.

Some of the issues were with the drivers and others were just with Vista… But Xp works just fine.

Thanks for the tip Kevin. I’ve got a HP zd7000 I have been meaning to upgrade to Ultimate and now that I know I can revert to the old OS if I have problem with Vista I’ll give it a shot.
