How to Prevent a Motorola Droid Battery Cover from Falling Off
Although I haven’t touched a Motorola Droid yet, I’ve read several accounts where the battery cover simply falls off. I don’t know if this is some type of manufacturing issue on certain production runs or not, but I’m betting it’s annoying if it happens to you. The Gadgeteer found this little do-it-yourself fix on video and it certainly looks simple enough for any Droid owner to try.
Basically, you’re just bending one bit ever so slightly to help the battery latch catch and stay put. It looks and sounds simple and has to be better than my proposed solution, which is duct tape. ;) It might be worth a try, but of course you want to be cautious and careful. It would be a shame to break off the metal clip — it’s not a self-healing Droid, after all!

Would be better if there was a software update to fix this hardware problem. Prolly have a look at the App Store. Even Apple might have a generic app for that. Waddayouthink ?
Yeah. I was think the same thing. It is a droid after all. Should be an app that could control a robotic arm that would create the perfect bend in the sheet metal per specification. DROID R2D2 EDITION.
It does fall off bobs phone, but if you have the body glove cover it can’t slip off

motorola is replacing defective battery covers. All you have to do is call them.
Nice. Would have been nicer if I found this out a few days ago. I have one of those holster holders and the cover fell off during my daily whatevering and so I now have no idea where it is. Searched the house. Searched the car. It’s gone.
I did read somewhere that Motorola is sending replacements if you contact them, so that’s what I did.
