Here’s a feature I LOVE to see on mobile devices
One word: auto-rotation. Oh wait, that’s two words with a hyphen. Well, you get the idea. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, Craig Pringle shows it off on the Motion LE1700 slate. Interestingly enough, I have the same feature on my Toshiba M205 Tablet PC, circa 2004! The more things change, the more they stay the same….

I thought this was so cool when I got my Lenovo X60. But sometimes it takes forever and sometimes it switches too fast when I don’t mean for it to rotate. I haven’t enabled this feature in months because it gets too annoying. Anyone else feel the same way? Also, sometimes when I switch orientation some Firefox toolbar buttons get cut off the browser window. They just disappear with the resize.
Yeah this should be a feature any device that needs to rotate back and forth between landscape and portrait should have without question.
If only my Jasjam did this! if only win mobile rotated screens faster! i see the iphone and tablets doing this and i just get soo jealous.
I disabled this on my x61t right away because it was just annoying and 100% superflous.
I found that for UMPC’s, Vista Origami Experience for Windows Vista crashes with rotate, at least it does with my OQO 02.
I switch screen a lot, so I can’t use OX until they fix that.
Don’t check vids much for Mr. Pringle’s remark’s but the iPhone inspired someone that posts at oqotalk.com to code & share an amazing utility that provides autorotate, that can be tweaked for performance & responsiveness.
I have it set up on start up having it in my system tray, being able to automatically disable/enable it with one click when needed. Works great for inking withou having to slide keyboard out to rotate. Sometimes it does not come up at start up but I can always manually start it until I figure out why it didn’t.
