Got a new phone today

My new Blackberry Storm
I am a total geek. In large part because of the work I do here but also because I am a total geek I have accounts with three different phone carriers. I have the iPhone on AT&T, the G1 Android on T-Mobile, and until today I had the Blackberry 8830 on Verizon.
You may recall I had an evaluation Blackberry Storm supplied by RIM back when it launched on Verizon. I enjoyed using that evaluation phone and my impression of the Storm was pretty favorable while not the common one. That phone went back to RIM long ago but Verizon has been calling to me to get one of my very own.
I have successfully fought off that urge until today and I now have a Blackberry Storm to call mine. Verizon let it go for only $99 with all the various incentives including the “new every two” discount they offered. I just couldn’t pass that up so I have one of these babies of my own. That means I now have the three flagship devices for each of the networks I belong to:

I’ve always wondered how you manage multiple phones. Do you carry all three? Forward one to another one? Do you stand in front of your phones today and play eenie, meenie, minie, moe to see who gets to go to Lowe’s with you? Draw straws?
Hope you have fun with your new phone!
Congrats very good choice and very good price too. I am stuck with my Bold for now.
I carry 2 phones with me iPhone and BlackBerry Bold :-)
Pam, I just carry one with me and do a lot of call forwarding. I pretty much only give out one of the numbers these days so that’s easier to do.
The price is the only reason I jumped on this. I liked the Storm but didn’t need one. :)
cross operator call forwarding must be expensive over time, no?
Wise decision James. I’ve found the Storm to be the best smartphone ever and there’s still a lot to come (firmware updates and BB store)
James congrats on your new Storm, now hopefully Kevin can convince himself to get one also, and become part of the Crackberry Nation. :) I have been using my Storm since day one and its been a very asome phone. So what you say Kevin?
Admit it, you just couldn’t let Om get away with carrying three devices when you only had two :)
Not happening just yet, HG. I’m only willing to pay for one voice line at a time. ;) We’ll see what the next few months bring, since my AT&T contract is up in June. I’m trying keep my options open until then.
You are a sick man……………and I am a jealous one.
:) Well that’s not to far off, maybe by then the Storm with LTE might be out. I’m also willing to pay for one voice line at a time. I did sell my 2G iPhone last week and I had it unlocked. Maybe you can sell your iPhone and move into the Blackberry Storm. ;)
The Storm is a piece of junk. The iPhone spanks it hard.
And i suppose that you’ll increase this to 4 phones and 4 carriers once the Pre is available? Gotta catch ‘em all!
Don’t forget to do the upgrades!!! We’re at 4.7.0.99.
4.7.103 was just leaked out.
So much money. You must be paying almost $300 per month on network charges alone.
Are there no unlocked versions around? A person could soon make up the difference in device cost.
I have had one of these for a few months. It took a little getting used to and it still has a few things that I just don’t like but I am satisfied.
Of course it probably helps that my employer is footing the monthly bill (which is why I purchased this over the iPhone).

No Sprint love. Poor Now Network!
Ugh! The Storm is so bad that RIM should be ashamed of itself. The reps at Verizon stores around here actually steer people away from it and I am told it has the greatest amount of returns of any BB device. I think that Bold however, is the best BB device to date. I returned my Storm for a Bold and have an iPhone too.
James, that knock at the front door is the intervention team: please let them in. ;-)
Happy Valentine’s Day.
Looks at his Nokia E90 and smiles knowingly.
Are you going to do a in-depth comparison soon?
I was wondering because most reviewers only do a brief two-day stint.
My iPhone completely replaced my Treo and more. Verizon ‘new every two’ worked fine once, but 3 yrs later they told me that it was only for the account holder, and not any second lines. I switched to ATT and now have the iPhone. The Blackberries do not sync our Exchange Calendar and Contacts [I was told that it would require some RIM software that costs around $20,000] but the iPhone does it all in an instant. Also, ATT customer service treated me much better than Verizon. Many more of my friends and our IT staff are getting them, but some are going to the Storm and the Bold.
I wanted the storm to work (long time verizon customer and BB user) and I bought it twice. Once when it first came out and returned it. Again just recently after several updates and still could not get used to It. I finally broke down and bought the iphone from ATT and love this things. My ATT service is actually pretty good where I am too.
dang, man… that sucks for you. after having the Storm for 4 month i had to sell it and go back to the Curve. WHY? u will soon find out man… u will soon find out. storm is s$!@t!
